This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rowan chapter.

It’s almost the end of the semester and I’ve been thinking a lot about my future living plans. Moving into a new apartment is exciting but, I’m really excited to decorate. I feel like I’ve been searching through hundreds of tips on how to make an apartment look effortlessly cute. Here are a few of my favorite tips.

Plants, plants, plants, and plants.

It doesn’t matter what decorating style you are going for. Plants add a sense of cohesiveness to a room. You can’t go wrong with adding green friends to your apartment.

Invest in cute sheets.

The first thing that you notice when you walk into a bedroom is the bed. If you invest in cute sheets and you’ll immediately be thankful.

Stick to a color scheme.

Pick your rugs carefully.

Rugs have the power to tie a room together. You want to look for a rug that follows your color scheme to make the colors within the room pop.

Pay attention to lighting.

A lot of people will just through fairy lights on a wall because it’s trendy. Instead, take a second and look at your lighting and make sure that your choices of lighting make sense.

Wall art doesn’t have to be cohesive.

Pick wall art that complements your color scheme but don’t be afraid to mix prints. It doesn’t matter what your theme is funky art prints look good with everything.

When all else fails stick to an aesthetic.

If you are too nervous to pick out items on your own look to current aesthetics as a guide. You’ll feel a lot better looking at other apartments as a guide.
