General Info

Name: Amy Schiller

Age: 21

Major: Integrated Marketing Communications

Hometown: Buffalo Grove

Hobbies/interests: I love to travel and workout. Also, I’m a huge Chicago Cubs fan.

School

Why did you choose your major?

Before I found Roosevelt, I didn’t even know what IMC was. I knew that I wanted to go into either communications or marketing and I was lucky to find a field that allowed me to do both.

What are your plans after graduation?

I’m pretty interested in creative advertising but I’ll take what I can get. I want to move out towards the West Coast so I don’t plan on staying in Chicago for long. I’m interested in seeing where life takes me.

Why did you choose RU?

My sister already went to school here and the classroom size definitely influenced my decision to choose Roosevelt. I’ve attended two other colleges so I pretty much knew what I wanted when I was looking to transfer. Third time’s a charm!

What is your favorite thing about Roosevelt?

The location of Roosevelt is probably one of the best in the city. Having Millennium Park right across the street makes showing up to class a little bit easier. Also, actually having a connection with professors instead of feeling like I’m just another person to them.

Any campus involvement?

I take 15 credit hours a semester and I live and work in the suburbs so my schedule is pretty packed. I’m always looking to become more involved though!

Social Causes

What social cause matters most to you?

I would say the one social cause that matters the most to me is education and poverty. I feel like so many students aren’t given the opportunity to succeed because of poverty. It’s the one thing that I wish would change in the education system.

Are you a feminist?

I believe that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It’s a difficult question to answer because I feel like everybody has their own definition of what a feminist is.

Style

How would you describe your personal style?

I have a pretty laid back style. It depends on the day. Sometimes you can catch me wearing a flannel, other days I’m wearing a sweatshirt. I never forget the converse though.

What are your favorite stores and brands?

My style is kind of all over the place so I shop anywhere from Old Navy to Dottie Couture Boutique. I love online shopping because it’s easier for me to keep my options open.

What’s your favorite item in your closet?

I can’t live without my flannels.

What do you think makes you stand out?

I’m always down for random dancing and singing sessions. My friends and coworkers don’t think I have any talent but what do they know. My crazy personality definitely helps me stand out.
