I’m in my senior year at Purdue now and am still trying to find new things to do on campus every-day. I’ve only spent a little over 2 years on campus because of COVID, and I just can never find anything to do. Purdue’s campus is beautiful, no doubt, but there aren’t many things you can just do, if that makes sense. So here are my go-to’s for when I want to get out of my apartment:

  1. Go to the talks and shows on campus!

Purdue Convocations always has great programs coming to campus each year. I watched Waitress when they came to campus, and I was so excited that I finally got to see a musical in-person! It was a great experience, and it wasn’t expensive at all. If you take a close look at the bulletins around campus also, you’ll see that there are always things going on – speakers are constantly coming to Purdue to speak about anything and everything you can think of and if you’re a learner like me, you’ll absolutely love these.

  1. Chauncey Square’s Theater

If you know someone that lives in Chauncey Square apartments, this is a great one. There’s a little movie theater that residents can reserve, and it’s a great option for a movie night on campus if it’s available! Definitely a lot closer than the Wabash theater down the hill, and you can bring your own snacks, pillows and blankets to be comfy, whatever you want!

  1. PMU’s Rack and Roll

If you find bowling fun, you have to check out the Rack and Roll in PMU’s basement. I find it surprising how many people don’t know that we have a bowling alley on campus! It’s really affordable, and they even have a VIP card that you can buy! With the VIP card, you’re basically buying a bunch of games in advance for a cheaper price. If you’re not the biggest fan of bowling, there’s also arcade games and billiards there, and their very recent addition of a gaming cafe!

  1. Karaoke

If you don’t mind walking down Chauncey Hill to the movie theater area, there’s karaoke spots where you can go out for a fun night with friends! There’s also food nearby, so you can grab a bite and sing your hearts out afterwards.

  1. All Fired Up!

Also, down by the movie theater is a paint-your-own pottery studio. This can be super fun for both dates and big group events, you can even order the pottery to paint at home if you don’t want to stay in their venue!

I know that Purdue’s campus can seem a bit boring sometimes, but there are fun things to do if you look hard enough. Some of these are a bit more hidden, but if you keep an eye out, I’m sure you’ll find something fun! Enjoy your time at Purdue, don’t be like me and wait until your very last year to start having fun!
