Best Skincare Products for This Winter Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purdue chapter.

During the depths of winter, it’s not unlikely that you will find yourself struggling with dry, flakey, and/or irritated skin. But I have just the solution to all of your winter skincare problems! I have curated the perfect list that will guarantee both smooth and hydrated skin during this harsh winter season.

1. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

If you are looking for a super hydrating moisturizer for the winter, look no further than this important product. This facial moisturizer will get rid of dry patches, eczema flare ups, flakey skin, and give you an overall ethereal glow. It has a very thick texture that immediately soothes the skin. When I wake up after using this moisturizer, my skin is super “glowy” and smooth. I love using this at night after all of my other skincare products.

2. CosRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

I know the idea of putting snail mucus on your face might be slightly off-putting, but I promise you that this stuff works. After using it consistently for about 2 months, I have noticed that the discoloration on my face has definitely improved. I use this product right before my moisturizer at night. It is a little slimy, but I use about two pumps for my face and neck. I like to let this sink in for a few minutes before applying my moisturizer. It feels very hydrating and calming on the skin.

3. Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum

If your skin needs an extra pick me up and boost of hydration, I recommend a good hyaluronic acid. My favorite is the Good Molecules one because it is a little thicker and feels the most hydrating. I like to use this on my clean skin after washing it. When using this product, or any other hyaluronic acid, it’s important to apply it on damp skin. This paired with the Snail Mucin topped off with the Ultra Repair Cream is hands down the best nighttime combo.

4. Cerave Healing Ointment

By this point you have probably heard of the term slugging. Slugging is when you slather your face with some form of petroleum jelly. My favorite form of petroleum jelly is the Cerave Healing Ointment. This product is the most lightweight petroleum jelly that I have ever used. Slugging is a great way to repair the skin barrier and give your skin extreme hydration overnight. You will look like a glazed donut but it’s so worth it. When it comes to slugging, I have found it works best on clean skin, so about once a week or so I will apply this product all over my skin before bed. I also love this product for my dry lips or on smaller dry patches.

5. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

During the winter, so many people struggle with severely dry lips, and I am one of them. I do not even leave the house without some sort of lip product on me at all times. I have tested practically every lip balm known to man, and the lip sleeping mask is the best. It has a really thick texture that makes it last on the lips for hours. I do not have to reapply this lip product as frequently as I do for the others. I use this day and night. I keep a mini one in my backpack, on my nightstand, and at my desk. There are so many fun flavors and gift sets to try out. I could not recommend this lip mask any more at this point.

6. Pixi NutrifEYE Nourishing Eye Patches

Under-eyes are one of the first things to get super dry so a good booster for the under-eye area never hurt anyone. These patches are not only extremely nourishing and hydrating but they are so much fun. I even got my boyfriend into doing these with me because they are that good. There are multiple options from Pixi for all of your under-eye concerns but I recommend this line. There is an instant cooling sensation that is very calming and soothing. I also noticed that using these before doing my makeup makes my under-eye concealer go on like a literal dream. These can be applied directly to the under-eyes before applying any other products to the skin.
