My Favorite Reality Shows That I Watched Throughout The Summer

If you know anything about me, you know that I always have a show on, no matter what I am doing. When I am making my bed in the morning, getting ready for my day, eating or doing homework, I have a show playing in the background.

Most likely, I am watching or just listening to a reality show. I love realness, drama, relationships, friendships and enemies. Also, I love being caught up in other people’s lives that I don’t know (which is probably a good reason, as I am a public relations major).

“The Valley”

To start off this list is a show that I just got into: “The Valley.” “The Valley” is a reality show based on 16 people, including five main couples: Danny and Nia Booko, Luke Broderick and Kristen Doute, Jason and Janet Caperna, Zach Wickham and Benji Quach and Lacy Nicole and Jesse Lally. Other cast members are Tom Schwartz, Brittany Cartwright, Jasmine Goode, Michelle Saniei and Lala Kent. You might recognize some of these cast members from another famous reality show, “Vanderpump Rules.”

“The Valley” is set in the Valley of California, where the majority of the cast members live. This show is filled with the perfect amount of friendships, drama and relationships, whether they are getting married or getting divorced.

The drama goes from Danny allegedly being labeled as an alcoholic due to his behavior while drinking to Janet and Kristen not liking each other because of trust issues. The show does have its good moments as well, like Brittany getting her mommy makeover, Jasmine planning a wedding, Lala being sober for seven years and Janet being able to open up about past traumatic experiences.

I have been loving this, and I believe others would as well if they are fans of “Vanderpump Rules” or just like a lot of drama. It is also just a fun show to watch to see people’s growth on “Vanderpump Rules” as a long-time viewer.

“Vanderpump Rules”

I have been watching “Vanderpump Rules” for so long that I believe I could recite almost every line of every episode. I was a fan even before Scandoval was a thing and before Ariana was the host of Love Island.

“Vanderpump Rules” is another California-based reality show that all started with people being servers and bartenders at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant, Sur. This show has 12 seasons, and I think it is the best show ever created. Again, this show is the perfect mix of love, hate and drama.

The main cast involves Stassi, Katie, Kristen (from “The Valley”), Jax (from “The Valley”), Brittany (from “The Valley”), Tom Schwartz (from “The Valley”), Lala (from “The Valley”), Tom Sandoval, Ariana Madix, Scheana Shay, James Kennedy and Raquel Levis, with a couple of others coming in and out as seasons went on.

I have watched all of these people grow up, get married, get divorced, form and break friendships, have affairs, fight, make up, etc. I have also watched Lala, Katie and Jax (unfortunately) be right about almost every single situation.

My favorite moments include Ariana and Stassi becoming friends, Stassi finally finding love after being in terrible relationships, Lala building friendships after not feeling like she belonged, and becoming sober and of course, Scandoval because it was just a crazy situation.

I think this is a show everyone can watch without feeling bored for a single moment, and that’s why it is one of my favorites. It has become a comfort show to me, and I will forever be grateful that the producers put this group of people together.

“Below Deck”

“Below Deck” is another show that I have been watching for years. I can’t list a specific cast because it changes every season, except for a few people, but it has always been one of my favorites. Hence the name, it is a good show to watch during the summer because it is all about boating and usually obnoxious, rude, rich charter guests.

“Below Deck” is a show that is set in the Caribbean, featuring Captain Sandy and Captain Lee for most seasons. A new crew comes on, including a head stewardess and two others under them, a bosun and three people under them and a chef. New charter guests come on and stay on the boat for around three days. They have three-course meals a day, can play on all the different toys in the water, and travel around local towns.

“Below Deck” is where all the drama happens. Either someone is doing their job wrong and messing up the whole operation, two crew members are hooking up, a crew member is flirting with a guest (happens occasionally) or the chef is not cooking good food. There are plenty of things that go wrong and cause drama to happen.

Plenty of people get fired, and there have been times when guests are asked to end their charter early because they are not abiding by the rules or are just being rude to crew members.

I like this show and think other people would like the show because it is a fun, summer show to watch, especially if you like traveling and seeing the world with just a touch of drama.

I know a lot of people don’t like reality shows because they think they are fake or think that people are washing their brains away, but I think differently. To me, they probably just have not found the show for them, but reality is so big that there is something for everyone. It is hard to get into at first, but I do believe that it is worth it to find shows you are interested in.
