15 weeks have flown by, and the end of the semester has finally come. You’re sitting on your couch watching your 15th hour of TV and now what? You’ve already binge-watched every season of Orange is the New Black and have eaten the leftovers you had for dinner last night. You surf the web to find a Pinterest craft you’ve seen and decide to do it. After that, you’re stumped again.
This is where you think about the 4 R’s of Winter Break.
Relax
This is one that so many people can easily do. Do the things that you wish you had time to do at school. Sit down, read a book, take a warm bath in a clean bathtub, sit in your room, light some candles, and enjoy the homey smell and silence. Learn a new skill like yoga or knitting, make a facemask, and paint your nails – do something for yourself.
Reflect
Now that you have some time to sit and relax, reflect on the semester on the good, the bad and the things that you wish you could have changed. Reflect on what happened, the habits you might have picked up that you wish you could shake, and figure out a way to fix the relationships you may have severed. Reflect on your actions and your thoughts and make a list, a plan to stick to, and make that change. Make a change to better yourself for yourself.
Reorganize
Make your plan for next semester. You have your school schedule, but plan out the rest of your week ahead of time. Figure out when you have meetings, when you have work scheduled and when you have those 15 minutes for a quick cat nap. Being organized ahead of time will make your transition into the next semester that much easier.
Run
Running is the best form of exercise. Running relieves stress, running is good for your health, and running ultimately makes you feel better. Personally, I have gotten up every morning and have run two miles. It jump-starts my day, and it allows me to feel good about myself. Running lets me breathe and escape responsibilities and the stress of everything else that has been going on. Running is definitely something I missed at college, and Winter Break lets me regain that task.
So collegiettes, get up, go out, and take advantage of the 4 R’s of Winter Break – you’ve got this, girls!
