She’s senior civil engineer major and a Resident Assistant in Mehling Hall.

Name: Jocelle Tade, some of my friends call me Jo

Year: Senior

Major: Civil Engineering

Hometown: Laguna Niguel, California

Favorite Place to study on Campus: Quiet Floor of the Library, I would say I go there most often as well as the Franz classrooms during the weekend.

What are you involved in here at UP?

I’m a RA in Mehling and Secretary of Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

What do you do in SWE meetings?

This past month we went to Austin, TX for a conference and it gave UP women engineer majors an opportunity to network with other women engineers.

As a future engineer, what field do you want to go into?

Water resources or environmental.  I feel like with these fields you’re able to touch a lot of lives and help people with their basic needs.

What are you most excited about once you graduate?

Getting used to the next step and a working lifestyle.  I think just having a new routine will be exciting.

You said you were an RA in Mehling, what do you enjoy most about the job?

I enjoy being able to interact with underclassman and show them the ropes of UP. I think it’s cool to watch them develop and become the people they’re becoming and being able to guide them through that.  I also LOVE being able to work with our amazing staff!

What do you like to do in your free time?

LOL, what’s free time… no, I really enjoy going to concerts. I think it’s awesome that Portland has a lot of cool venues and there are just a lot of different artist that come through Portland.  I really enjoy going and being able to hear good music and hang out with friends!

I know you live close to Disneyland, what is your favorite ride there?

Honestly, I know a lot of people hate it but my favorite ride is It’s A Small World. It’s just a nice way to relax!  The experience of being in Disneyland is so great, as I’ve gotten older I’ve come to enjoy the parades and shows a lot more than the rides!Â
