How to Celebrate Galentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Portland chapter.

Hello Gal Pals!

Galentine’s Day is upon us!  Soon you will be hanging out with your best girlfriends, enjoying the pleasantries of Galentine’s Day.  A day devoted to celebrating how amazing us girls are.  Or as Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation puts it, ”Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”

So I’m here to help you plan the perfect last-minute Galentines Day!  Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A bunch of lady friends.  Time to hit up that group message!
  • Food. Pretty much the most important part.  For this Galentines Day, my friends and I will be munching on Dino Nuggets, Mac and Cheese, and Cookies.  After all, we are mature college students.
  • Decorations. Now you don’t have to go all out, but I totally encourage that you do. Just some pink plates and cutout hearts will do though.

This year the Galentine gods must have heard our cries, and magically scheduled the Bachelor on the same day!  Ladies, that means as you hangout with some of your favorite peeps, you can also watch Nick make a complete fool out of himself.  What else could you want?

And that’s it!  Ladies, enjoy your Galentine’s Day because you deserve it!
