Fall: It’s the MOST Wonderful Time of the Year!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Portland chapter.

Fall is my favorite time of year. The leaves changing from greens to beautiful yellows, golds, reds, and oranges creates such a comforting environment that I could stare at for days. And, with the variations in the leaves comes the changes in the weather, making it perfect for sweaters and sweatshirts. It’s cold enough that you can dress warm and cozy, but not too cold or wet (with snow or rain) that you’re miserable when you’re outside.

Growing up in Colorado, I was spoiled with mountain sides that would turn gold in late September and October, but since I’m in Portland during fall now, I’ve found my Fall comforts in the trees on campus and in Forest Park. One of my favorite places to go on campus during the Fall is to the Jesus Statues because the trees surrounding them turn such a vibrant red. I enjoy grabbing a warm drink and sitting underneath them and finding time to think and reflect. Forest Park is also a beautiful place to look because the hillside is scattered with yellows and oranges throughout the green of the pines.

Fall is the perfect time of year because it’s all about the feeling of comfort. The colors of the trees turn into vibrant and warming colors, clothing styles fade into knitted and fuzzy items from head to toe, and you can start or end your day when warm drinks that fills your soul. No matter the stresses that come from classes during the Fall season, there are warming touches that can help ease and brighten your day all around. Even though the sun doesn’t shine as much as it does in the summertime, you can still find the warmth needed to go on :)
