You Know You’re in a Long Term Relationship When…

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

After dating someone for years, your relationship is completely different than when you first started dating. It becomes more of a reliable, constant love rather than a new, explosive passion. With these changes, there are certain things couples only understand if they’re in a long term relationship.

1. You’re content sitting with them and doing nothing.

2. You can tell when they’re lying.

3. You can communicate by sharing a single look.

4. You’ve been through so many holidays/ anniversaries/ birthdays together you’ve run out of gift ideas.

5. You’re not afraid to tell them that their breath smells or that they have something in their teeth.

6. Nothing about them grosses you out anymore.

7. It’s hard to find something you DON’T know about each other.

8. You’ll go over to their house just to nap.

9. Your senses of humor have morphed into one .

10. You know exactly how to cheer each other up.

11. You’re completely comfortable being around them with no makeup on.

12. They are no longer phased by your un-shaved legs.

13. You can fill a whole album of your selfies together.

14. When one of you is invited to something, it’s assumed the other is invited too.

15. You have countless inside jokes.

16. You’ve accidentally twinned at least once.

17. You know how to let things go to avoid a meaningless argument.

18. You recognize they have flaws, but love them anyways despite of them.
