Halloween Activities To Do Around Pittsburgh

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Halloween is right around the corner! This means it’s time to start planning your costumes and figuring out which Halloween parties you want to attend! But, if you want to do something different this year other than costume parties, be sure to check out these awesome Halloween-y events Pittsburgh is hosting this October!

Pittsburgh Haunted Trolley Tour – Take a spooky trolley ride through Pittsburgh to see the most haunted places in town! The rides take off from Station Square every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:00 PM and at 9:00 PM and will run through November 1st.

Halloween Pub Crawl – If you’re over 21, attending Pittsburgh’s Halloween Bar Crawl is a must. The event starts at Jimmy D’s on Halloween in Southside at 5 PM and goes until 2 AM. You also have the option to buy a two days pass for only $15 for Friday 10/31 and Saturday 11/1. Bars featured on the tour will have great specials and great music. Crawl-O-Ween urges guests to dress up in costume and join this spooky fun-filled event. Tickets can be purchased on barcrawls.com.

Kennywood – Kennywood is an amusement park located fairly close to Pitt’s campus. It offers fright nights every Friday and Saturday nights until 1 AM. Kennywood keeps almost all of the rides open, but changes its theme to scare the people who travel through its dark and mysterious paths.

Scarehouse – Scarehouse is for the ultimate fear-loving adventurer. It has been listed as one of the scariest haunted houses in America. The haunted house has different haunts that guests can go through but the ultimate thriller is the basement where only 1-2 people are allowed to go through at a time, and can be touched, restrained, and hooded by actors! Talk about scary! The tickets are $29.95 for one, and $49.95 for two. Scarehouse is open Thursday through Sunday. On Thursdays and Sundays it is open until 10 PM and Fridays and Saturdays it is open until 12 AM. Check out scarehouse.com for more information.

Bloomfield parade – If you are not into the scary aspect of Halloween, take a trip to Bloomfield to watch the Halloween Parade on October 30th from 6 PM to 10 PM. Children in adorable costumes and Halloween themed floats will travel the streets in hopes of getting Pittsburgh residents excited for the holiday!

Soergel Orchards Fall Festival – Soergel Orchards is a local farm where you and your friends can go to do Halloween themed things—like pick pumpkins, go through cornstalk mazes, and board a hayride for a tour around the farm. There are also many fall foods and drinks sold at the farm to provide you with the perfect fall day! The Farm is also only 20 minutes from Pitt’s campus! The fall festival will occur on Saturdays and Sundays through October.

Trick or Treating – Just because you’re a college student doesn’t mean you’re too old to trick or treat! Why miss out on free candy? Make sure to hit up the mansions in Shadyside, I’m sure they give out the big candy bars!
