7 Student Discounts You Should Be Taking Advantage Of

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

It’s no secret that most college students are on a tight budget. Between paying for tuition, room and board, textbooks and the many other expenses that come with college, some students simply can’t afford to splurge on things like clothes or eating out. However, businesses know this and a lot of them offer deals exclusively for students – all you need is your “.edu” email address. Once you hear about these discounts, you’ll never settle for paying full price again.

Unidays

Unidays is a student discount program that compiles thousands of deals and coupon codes into one website. Once you sign up with your student email you get access to a wide variety of discounts on clothing brands, travel companies, restaurants and more! Currently, for a limited time only they’re offering 20% off Kate Spade, 30% off American Apparel and 50% off Papa John’s. I never go shopping without checking Unidays first.

Student Beans

Like Unidays, Student Beans is a collection of offers that are only available for college students. Many of their coupon codes can only be used online, whereas Unidays has offers for online or instore purchases. Student Bean’s current offers include 20% off Hunter Boots and 10% off Gymshark.

Amazon Prime

By signing up for Amazon Prime with your student email, you get a 6-month trial that includes free 2-day shipping as well as access to Prime Video. After the trial, you’ll get Prime at a

discount. However, if you don’t want to pay for Amazon Prime be sure to cancel your membership right before the trial is up or else they’ll start charging you automatically!

Apple

Apple usually runs back-to-school sales for college students around this time of year. This year, they’re giving away a free pair of Beats headphones when you buy a Mac or iPad Pro. You can also get up to $200 off a new Mac and 20% off AppleCare+.

Best Buy

Whether you need a microfridge for your dorm room, a new laptop or a graphing calculator for that dreaded math class, Best Buy has it all. They offer great discounts for college students, and many of their electronics are currently marked down (markdowns can be combined with other offers/coupons!) so you’ll be saving a lot of money.

Microsoft Office

If you don’t already have Microsoft Office 365, it’s free for students. The software includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Normally, Office 365 is $10/month so being able to download it for completely free is one of the many perks you get just for being a college student.

Groupon

You may have heard of Groupon, the website where you can purchase coupons that are typically worth double the value you paid. But did you know that Groupon offers extra discounts for students? That’s right, through the Groupon Student Program you get an additional 25% off of any local deal you buy for 6 months. For example, if you purchase a 50% off massage coupon, you’ll be getting an extra 25% off, for a total of 75% off! After 6 months, you still get an extra 15% off any local deal as long as you’re a student.
