Winter is coming. Despite living in sunny Southern California winter still comes for your skin. My struggle has always been caring for my skin at this time of year, often slapping on a face mask and believing that’ll do. This year, one of my personal goals has been to care for my skin in a way that will actually produce results. Here’s what I found to help:

- Drink Water
-
I know, how original, but the reason you hear it so much is because it’s true. I have the worst habit of not drinking enough water no matter how many reusable water bottles I have. What I have found to help me drink more water is a) adding flavor with berries or fruit, and b) having water by my bed to drink when I wake up and when I go to sleep.
- Use a Hydrating Serum
-
While using moisturizer is important, and I’ll touch on that next, using a hydrating serum in addition to a moisturizer can help keep your skin well hydrated.
- An Antioxidant Moisturizer
-
I absolutely love my current moisturizer from SweetChef. It’s loaded with vitamins and antioxidants that help brighten, rejuvenate, and hydrate my skin. In case it’s not clear yet, hydration is key.
- Wear a Night Mask
-
Night masks are a great way to protect your skin from dehydration. What makes a good night mask is that it’s a heavy moisturizer that moisturizes your skin throughout the night so you don’t wake up with dry skin and start the day on the right foot.
- Lotion!
-
Don’t forget that the rest of your body needs skincare! I like to double moisturize when I lotion. I use a lighter moisturizer that’s quick to absorb in the morning, and a more oily lotion or straight-up body oil at night.
