My childhood idol got married! Congratulations to Rydel and Capron Funk, who tied the knot on September 12th! Rydel is a former member of my absolute favorite band R5 who also owns an online boutique called Rydel (I’m an ambassador for them-  the clothes are super cute!!) and Capron Funk is a professional scooter rider. They’re both successful YouTubers as well, with individual channels as well as their couple channel, Capron & Rydel. I also love Rydel’s TikToks, especially when she makes them with Ross Lynch and her other brothers Rocky, Riker, and Ryland. I know how excited Rydel was to change her social media handles to @RydelFunk- it’s crazy because I’ve followed her on Instagram since I first downloaded it in 2012, so I’ve seen her username change from @RydelR5 to @RydelLynch, and now to @RydelFunk! As the lyrics of one of my favorite R5 songs say, “a little bit of love will change your life.”

It’s crazy to think that Rydel is a married woman now. I’ve looked up to her since she was the age I am as I write this. I was nine, so that means she’s been my idol for half of my life! Her dream was always to get married and I’m so happy for her. I’ve always admired Rydel for her style, kindness, creativity, and talent. She and I are a lot alike, which is certainly because I used to copy her when I was younger. I own several pairs of heart-shaped sunglasses because that was her trademark accessory back then. Both of our names come from movies as well- mine from Gone With the Wind and hers from Grease. I even used to caption my Instagram posts in similar ways to hers. From following Rydel all of these years, seeing her in old R5tv episodes, watching interviews and interviews, to now seeing her content on Youtube and Tiktok, I’ve learned a lot about fashion, friendships, work, and relationships. She taught me the importance of being close to your family, staying strong after a breakup, working hard, and being positive. Seeing how Capron treats her so well taught me not to settle for anything less than a guy who treats me like a princess. Her videos are full of good vibes that instill confidence in me and just make me so excited for living life. She’s done so much for me without even knowing it, and for that I’m beyond grateful. I’m so excited to see her dream come true (fun fact: to honor my love of this band and the impact they’ve made on the last half of my life, I got their logo tattooed on my ribs the same day Rydel got married! Talk about growing up with your favorite band).

The night before the wedding, the happy couple had a “Funk Carnival” welcome party. On her big day, Rydel wore a custom-made white lace Adriana Papell dress with a heart-shaped cutout in the back. She looked like a Disney princess! Rydel walked down a staircase to make her grand entrance, and her parents Mark and Stormie walked her down the aisle. Her brothers (who looked SO GOOD) were groomsmen, and they also performed. Rydel surprised Capron during their first dance by singing the song “I Wanna Love You” by Just Friends to him. In his vows, Capron promised to always make Rydel laugh, and he was crying during the ceremony. It was so cute! The wedding cake had flowers and butterflies on it. I’m not even kidding, I literally started crying when I first saw the pictures. I love love!

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Funk; I’m so happy for you both and I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!
