Pete Davidson’s Worst Comments About Ariana Grande

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pace chapter.

Let’s be honest, when the news broke out that Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson broke up we were all a little relieved. I love Ariana Grande and I like to see her happy and in love, but was Pete Davidson the best partner? Let’s look at his most problematic comments that Pete made about Ariana.

The first time Pete Davidson talked about Ariana was when he decided to joke about the Manchester Attack that killed twenty-two people and injured so many more. During a stand-up event, he said that “Britney Spears didn’t have a terrorist attack at her concert,” implying that Ariana should have realized how famous she was during that horrible experience and that she was at fault in some way.

Pete Davidson was always making tasteless comments about his ex-girlfriend. During an interview with Howard Stern, he commented: “I was jerking off to her before I met her.” Furthermore, he declared that he has “never been prouder” than when Former President Clinton stared at Ariana’s ass during her performance at Aretha Franklin’s funeral. He then added that he felt “really bad” for the pastor who groped Ariana Grande and defended him by saying that “he did a stupid joke” and that it was a “shitty situation. In another interview with Jimmy Fallon, he bragged that his “dick’s forever hard” thanks to his ex-fiancée.

Davidson has also referred to Grande as if she were a trophy on multiple occasions. While being interview by Jimmy Fallon he commented that he felt like he won a contest and that people congratulate him for scoring a woman like Ariana, based on her looks and no her merits. On another occasion, Pete joked that he switched Ariana’s birth control with Tic Tacs so he could “make sure that she can’t go anywhere.” This is not something to joke about as many women suffer from birth control sabotage in real life. His joke illustrated Davidson as manipulative by alluding ownership over Ariana’s body and locking her down through pregnancy.

If I were Ariana Grande, I would have left him a long time ago. She, like all of us, deserves so much better.
