In 2015, a 22-year-old woman was raped behind a dumpster at a party. Everyone knows the name of her rapist, Brock Turner. Now, it’s time to know her name and her story.

When the news broke in 2015 reporting her rape, she was known as “unconscious intoxicated woman.” In the courtroom and in her viral statement, she was known as “Emily Doe.” She recently decided to step out of the anonymity by revealing her name, Chanel Miller, and publish a memoir.

Her rapist was and is still referred to as “the Stanford swimmer” or by his name, which shows the privilege he has. He was sentenced to a mere six months of incarceration and three years of probation and only served for three months.

On Wednesday, September 4th, Chanel Miller revealed that her book “Know My Name” will be available on September 24th (you can preorder it here) and that she will appear in a “60 Minutes” interview on September 22nd.
