As we now have Wicked: For Good out in theaters, I think it is best to say that stopping by the Big Apple is a perfect way to end the grand finale of all the premiere spots and press tour of the overall Wicked campaign since last year. How could Wicked: For Good not have the last premiere be in New York City, home and birthplace of Wicked on Broadway itself? One thing is for sure, it’s very clear that the premiere has to be one of the best turnouts for the movie compared to all of the other destinations that they went to. From what everyone is raving about online, the night was very magical, as people once again journey back to the land of Oz to witness the epic conclusion of Elphaba and Glinda’s story. There is so much to talk about with this premiere, so let’s dive deep into how everyone danced through life during this enjoyable event of the year!

Fashion

First and foremost, how can we not start off with the fashion? Everyone’s wardrobe was on point and absolutely wicked. Cynthia Erivo’s all black dress was to die for, giving modern wicked witch vibes. Ariana Grande’s beautiful gown not only gave Glinda vibes with the color of the bottom dress, but also made sure to have Elphaba vibes with the top part of her dress being black. We can’t only look at the stars’ outfits though. All of the guests that attended the premiere went all out making sure that they went with the Wicked theme. From people wearing ballgowns as if they were heading on over to the Ozdust ballroom, to many painting themselves green and dressing as Elphaba, or finding the most stunning dresses that gives Glinda whether it’s pink or blue or even both. Of course there were many people wearing pink and green mostly, but we have to give applause to the people wearing blue for Glinda’s dress in Wicked: For Good. The dress is just stunning and pays beautiful homage to the original dress that Glinda wears in Wicked on Broadway. All of the outfits were so good, people will definitely try to recreate so many of these beautiful outfits. Let’s just say, after all of the fashion choices at the premiere, it wouldn’t be a surprise if many started to dress more like people from Wicked in everyday life even after the talk dials down.

Celebrities and Influencers

It wouldn’t be a premiere without  many different celebrities and influencers attending. Of course we have to let the cast of Wicked have their moment because that’s who everyone wanted to see at the yellow brick carpet. Of course, there were plenty of celebrities and influencers that had their little moment at the premiere themselves too. One very well known person that showed up at the premiere was Jimmy Fallon himself! How could you not have Fallon at one of the most anticipated movie events of the year, in one of the best cities in the world where the magic happens, along with him having one of the most popular late night talk shows in the city? Fallon was such a joy to see at the premiere especially with all of the love and support that he has given to each and every one of the cast members of Wicked. Along with Fallon, all of the girls at home might have been excited when they saw Gabi DeMartino from “Niki and Gabi” and “fancy vlogs by gab” on Youtube. For those who may not know, DeMartino is well known for her channel with her twin sister Niki back in the 2010s, along with still posting on her personal Youtube channel and being more active on TikTok now. Having DeMartino at the premiere brings so much nostalgia and helps remind us how much we have grown throughout the years and that we get to sit here and enjoy such a wonderful experience, no matter how old we get. However, no matter what, DeMartino had to make sure she made it to the premiere because she gives Glinda vibes with her outfits, color schemes, and personality.

Interviews

Of course, one of the best parts of watching premieres is seeing all of the interviews that the actors get to do to talk about their feelings and experiences about their journey of creating these wonderful films. Marissa Bode did a wonderful interview for the Wicked: For Good premiere livestream explaining her connection and love for Wicked. Her interview was also amazing due to the fact that she makes sure to spread awareness towards children and people who have disabilities just like her. Another delightful interview that was shown at the premiere was of course Grande and Erivo’s interview together. What made this interview so special was that Erivo couldn’t speak due to her losing her voice, so Grande was doing her best to answer the questions that respects both of their feelings and love for Wicked and the movie. Not to mention how Grande was so adorable supporting Erivo for her new work that she has recently released, including her solo album and book. All of the interviews that happened that night are truly wonderful and magical to see all of the love that the cast and many others have for this successful movie and the Broadway show itself. How could the cast members not gush about being in the city where Wicked started in the first place?

Personal Experience

Not only did celebrities and influencers turn up for this premiere, but a lot of fans of the movie got the chance to enjoy this wonderful experience of attending the premiere as well. In fact, one of the lovely members of Pace University’s Her Campus chapter, Jaden Sabathia, actually got the  wonderful chance to attend and experience the premiere herself. Sabathia describes the movie being climatic and emotional, and that it was an exciting experience being able to attend the premiere. She said that Grande had the best look out of everyone at  the whole premiere, and how she was more excited to see Jonathan Bailey than the two lovely witches themselves due to her love of Bridgerton and his performance. Overall, Sabathia stated, “I was so excited to have the opportunity to even be at a movie premiere. My goal in life is to become an actress, so being able to witness the magic of red carpets, movie premieres was a dream come true for me. So I was so excited to be at a movie premiere, and it being Wicked was so amazing to me. Walking the carpet was actually something we wouldn’t get to do at first, until I was told by my friend that we were allowed so that was an even bigger exhilarating moment for me. I am very grateful overall to have experienced this night with friends and I hope there’ll be more for me to experience while living in New York City.” If it’s not clear, being at the Wicked premiere happens to be a dream come true not just for Sabathia herself, but for so many others all over the world.

There is so much more that could be talked about with the Wicked: For Good premiere, but it’s safe to say that it was a successful and magical experience that everyone got to enjoy, whether attending or even watching at home. This premiere was such a wonderful way to close off this chapter of Wicked itself, but we shouldn’t get sad right away now that the movie is out and we won’t be getting another movie next year. We should celebrate all of the success that both movies have brought people back to go see movies at the theater, more people actually going to see Wicked on Broadway, all of the award shows that will happen next year where Wicked: For Good will win plenty of awards, and much more. This may seem like the end of Wicked forever, but who knows, maybe we can get more movies about The Wizard of Oz and Wicked since people are loving both movies so much. Until then, hurry up and grab your broomstick or bubble and fly or float down to the theaters to watch Wicked: For Good to have one last journey walking down the yellow brick road to the Emerald City, you will be changed for good.
