Last Minute Fall Break Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oxford Emory chapter.

1. Take a Road Trip In Georgia

Keeping the trip to the state will make sure you have a short drive (since you only have 4 days for the break). You can go alone and explore if that’s what you’d like, or you can fill up a car with friends and go together, which will make staying at a hotel cheaper! I’d personally recommend going anywhere on the east coast to go to the beach since it is still warm, Savannah, or Helen, an old German-style town with a candy store, zip-lining, and river rafting.

2. Go on a Ghost Tour

Covington offers ghost tours that start at the art gallery/classes on the square and go around Covington. Not only will you hear some spooky stories, but you’ll be sure to laugh through it all. Stone Mountain also offers ghost tours, as do most town here, including Savannah, so even if you opt to go on a road trip, you can find ghost tours there.

3. Find a Fall Festival to go to.

Who doesn’t like cute pictures with pumpkins or corn mazes? If you’re as basic as I am, find a fall festival or pumpkin festive and go there with a few friends to drink cider, eat apples, go to a corn maze, and carve a pumpkin!

4. Volunteer

You should spend a day giving back to your community this weekend. Go to a pet shelter, ask if you can help out at the farm, try to see if you can help set up for a fall festival, or simply do something good around campus.

5. Catch up on some zz’s and work

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for everybody because of midterms, so treat yourself. Stay in bed, sleep, do a face mask, do your nails, catch up on homework, and chill while your roommate is (probably) out of town.

Writing for Her Campus, alongside being the Senior Editor of the Emory chapter, strengthens my creativity and ability to teach others. It spills into my professional life by emphasizing my capabilities to motivate, inspire, and learn from my peers.
