Your Guide to the Ultimate Galentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OSU chapter.

It wouldn’t be a successful February without a Galentine’s get together. Good snacks, no guys and gossip, what more could a girl want? Here are a few fun ways to spend Galentine’s Day with the girls who have stuck with you through thick and thin.

1. Name a Cockroach After Your Ex

Your best friends probably know how awful your ex was so this is the perfect time to let it all out. The Bronx Zoo is holding their annual name a cockroach event this Valentine’s Day and many people on TikTok took this opportunity to name a cockroach after their ex! The zoo will send you an official roach certificate for a $15 donation.

2. Have a Movie Night

It’s cold outside and you and your girls owe it to yourselves to take the night off.  If you type in the number 8883 on Netflix, it will give you a list of all the romance movies available. Take advantage of this one time of the year where you can watch a movie marathon of cheesy rom-coms without judgment!

3. Themed Treats

Baking is my love language and there is nothing cuter than an red velvet cake for Galentine’s Day. There are also so many fun Valentine’s Day baking materials you can get at Target right now. If you’re not much of a baker, check out your local bakery for Valentine’s Day kits including sweet treats and cocktails!

4. Have a Photoshoot

With nearly all my classes online, I’ll take every opportunity I can to put on real pants in the morning. Head out with your gals for a Valentine’s Day photoshoot to populate your Instagram.

5. Girls Night Out

Let’s be honest, if you’re a college student you probably don’t have a lot of money to be spending on fancy dinners. But, lots of restaurants offer Valentine’s Day specials on a meal for two! So, grab your best friend and take advantage of all the sweet deals this weekend.
