Midterms are always so far away, yet so close. With each new round of midterms, there is a vicious cycle you undergo. We, as students of The Ohio State University, always come out on top, of course. Still, for those dark moments when you’re not sure if you can survive, here is some support from Urban Meyer, telling you that it will be okay.

Phase 1: Denial

There’s still time, you tell yourself. During this phase, you’re still stress free and convinced that you don’t need to start studying yet. I mean, the school year just started, right?

Phase 2: Acknowledgement

Someone in class just asked you how you’re going to study for the midterm. Midterm?! I thought we just took our first quiz.

Phase 3: Optimism

Alright, so you may be a little behind. But hey, there is still time to make a game plan and ace those tests.

Phase 4: Panic

You start panicking when you realize there is no way to cram in all the material you’ve learned this semester. When did you even learn all of this? Frantically, you try to think if you are friends, or even acquaintances, with anyone in your class who could give you notes, or just a clue.

Phase 5: Anger

Anger overtakes you, as you blame your teachers, your friends, roommate and that person who took your usual seat in class for not knowing any material. When you lash out at your barista for not giving you enough coffee, you think it may be time to relax a little.

Phase 6: Relaxing

It’s been a long, hard, two, days of studying, and you decide there’s no hope for you anyway, so you may as well have a good time. You decide to go out with your friends and celebrate your inevitable failures.

Phase 7: Taking the Test

Well, the day is here, and you did everything you could. You studied for a solid two days and ate a healthy breakfast, just like your teacher said to. You aren’t sure whether your headache is from stress or fatigue, but either way you decide it is what it is. Here goes nothing.

Phase 8: You did it!

You take the test and feel confident for definitely over half of the answers! Solid C, and that is all you can ask for. You did it friend.
