Dear collegiettes™,

“In the book of life, the answers aren’t in the back.” – Charlie Brown

One of the hardest parts about college is being by yourself and learning who you are.  All of us are on that same path to self-discovery, and some of us find it a little easier than others. I have been on that journey for almost three full years, and I am happy to say that I think I have finally found who I am. I am strong, confident, loyal, protective, driven, and a huge worrywart. I spend most of my time worrying if I am doing everything right, what people will think of me, where I will be after I graduate, etc. This quote from Charlie Brown helps me remember that life is what we make it, and that there is no right or wrong answer, even though it never feels that way. I have a very close-knit group of friends that I know I can rely on for everything, and we are constantly helping each other through difficult times. That is what I want to do for you. Coming from someone who has many sisters, I know that even when you are surrounded by all the love and support in the world, you can still feel like no one understands you.

As a fellow female on this campus, I know and have seen that sometimes we need a little help. We all have the people we turn to in times of need, but sometimes, we need someone a little more disconnected. Our friends can sometimes be biased, and we feel like no one really knows how to help. That is what am here for. If there is anything that you need advice on, or just to rant about an issue, I am here to listen and offer my advice. You can email anonymously, or you can tell me who you are: it’s up to you. I am dedicated to the confidentiality of the readers of Her Campus Oregon and pinky promise to not reveal your identity to anyone, just as I will not reveal my own identity. For your safety and respect, I swear that I will be the only one who knows who you are, if you choose to tell me. You can trust me!  You may be asking yourself, “Why the hell should I trust this random girl?” Well, this particular random girl will not judge you and has been through enough in her lifetime to handle anything. She is strong, cares for others, and has a huge heart. I could have chosen anything I wanted to write about, but I chose to help fellow Ducks with their problems. I am here to help, simple as that. Think of me as your Snoopy. I don’t say much, but I am always there when you need me.

I will post as many responses as I can in the order I receive them. You can reach me at hcoregonadvice@gmail.com.

A University of Oregon junior and San Francisco native, Charmaine Ng loves authentic noodle dishes and will always opt for Asian and Italian cuisine when pressed to choose a restaurant. She is a self-proclaimed "noodler," someone who uses her noodle to collaborate with others and bring big ideas to life. She interns for a student-run full-service ad agency, blogs for a wedding and event planning company, and runs the UO Muggle Quidditch League. In her spare time, she sleeps, and sleeps, and sleeps - and dabbles in social media and blogging, her two biggest passions. Her quirkiness isn't apparent at first, but then she starts talking about packaging design and making funny faces, and you wonder what happened to that shy Asian girl you first met. With ambition bursting beyond the campus walls, Charmaine can't wait to graduate and work for an agency, company, or publication in community outreach efforts using social media.
