I Got A Professional Facial and I’m Hooked

This week I took the plunge and got a professional facial for the first time. Sure, I’d used every packet facial and DIY trick before, but I’d never had someone analyze my skin and customize a treatment plan just for me.

I booked my facial at a local spa in Norman where I was greeted with antioxidant water and filled out forms about my skin. The forms were general questions about what kind of skin products I used, if I was using a retinoid cream, and if I knew about any possible allergies.

Once my paperwork was completed, I went back into the room, where my esthetician gave me a robe and left me to change and relax.

When she returned, I was under warm sheets, with a steady stream of steam over my face to open up my pores. The esthetician came back in the room and asked me about the goals of what I wanted and what my biggest skin concerns were.

I struggle with acne, oily skin, and hyperpigmentation which is an unfortunate combination. I expressed my concerns and I was reassured we’d work to clean up my face and make my skin feel better.

I was a little skeptical at first about going to get a facial. But I realized that facials can be a critical part of taking care of my skin and it could help prevent and treat common face problems.

The next step in my facial was the extraction portion. It’s not comfortable. Exactrations are when your esthetician deep cleans your pores. They use a magnifying glass and use clean tools to remove any gunk in your pores. It was uncomfortable for a bit, but after she finished, my skin already felt better.

She then utilized several products to build my facial and applied with a brush. While the products sat on my face, I got a shoulder, neck, arm, hand, and scalp massage which left me even more relaxed than before.

Facials aren’t just relaxing. They reduce and relieve psychological distress. They cleanse your skin, prevent aging, promote proper blood circulation, rejuvenate and detoxify the skin, make your skin soft and glowing, and give you expert skin care you need to keep your skin glowing and clean.

I had such a great experience getting my skin cleaned up. It is recommended you get a facial every six weeks, but at a minimum, once every season to promote healthy skin. I’ll definitely be back for another pampering session.
