As everyone in Athens knows, OU students know how to party. Whether you hit up the bars or are raging at a house party, you can undoubtedly find a way to get intoxicated. Afterwards, there is only one thing to do; get some food. While you could make some mac and cheese or a hot pocket at home, most people prefer to go uptown; where the eateries beckon to our drunken souls and have us emptying our wallets and stuffing our faces. Here are some of the best places to get your drunk eating on!
O’Betty’s:
I didn’t find out about O’Betty’s until my sophomore year, and I regret all of my past wild weekends without it. They serve hot dogs with crazy toppings, and my favorite, cheese fries! If you ask for bacon and sour cream on top, you will be in for the treat of a lifetime. I once wandered through The Crystal with my fries, and everyone was trying to be my friend in order to get some. O’Betty’s is located right off of Court on West State Street, across from Casa Nueva.
Wingsover:
Whether you’re walking down Court Street, or get home and realize you have some late-night munchies, you can never go wrong with Wingsover. With a wide variety of flavors, there is something for everyone. The fact that they deliver is also a huge plus!
Goodfellas:
If you’re in the mood for a greasy treat, Goodfellas is the place to be. It’s ready super quick and tastes delicious! There are two locations, Court Street and Union Street, so wherever you are stumbling home from, you will be able to make a quick stop to fill yourself up.
Big Mamma’s:
One of the most famous and beloved eateries in Athens, the line is often out the door every weekend. While burritos are their main specialty, sombrero dip and tortilla chips are another customer favorite.
While in line, people often drunkenly make new friendships, and some have even found relationships. Student Michelle S. rekindled a love affair while in line at Big Mamma’s. “I pointed at him at him, told him I missed him, and the rest was history,” she explained.
Big Mamma’s is obviously a place where dreams come true.
