My eyebrows are growing in, my nails are cracked, my legs hairs are at least an inch long, and I have been wearing sweatpants for the past two weeks. My days have mostly consisted of work in my pajamas and eating. While I am comfortable, I am starting to not feel like myself. I know I am not alone in this. Luckily, I have compiled a list of some ways to practice self-care for this uncertain time. It is important to look after yourself, mentally and physically, during social isolation. When looking at what the world is going through, it’s not easy to remember taking care of yourself. Practicing self-care, even if it is as simple as getting dressed every morning, will make you look and feel more productive – a great way to start your day.

  1. Mani-Pedi

Nothing screams self-care like a mani-pedi, especially since all of our favorite nail salons are closed. I highly recommend whipping out your cuticle oil and nail file, and having some fun with your nails. Painting your nails is a great distraction while also doing something for yourself. Since we are currently in the spring season, I recommend going for some pastels. I currently have pastel purple on my nails, and I am loving it! I recently stumbled upon the Olive and June Mani Kits that come with nine different shades, cuticle oil, nail clippers, a nail buffer, clean up brush, and the list goes on. The kit looks like a super cute way to create a mini nail salon from the comfort of your own bedroom.

  1. Bubble Bath

There is nothing that feels better than a bubble bath when you are stressed. Bubble baths are my go-to when I am feeling overworked or I need a refresher. Take a warm bath, pop your headphones in, and just close your eyes. I promise you, you will feel all of your problems slowly fade away and go down the drain.

  1. Hair and Face Mask

Masks are usually something I avoid because I often don’t have the time. However, now that I am stuck in my house, I have all the time in the world. In fact, the other day I put my dry, brittle hair in a mask for 8 hours, and it worked wonders. Face masks are super easy and you can keep them on while working with absolutely no shame! I totally recommend the “It’s a 10” leave-in conditioner for a hair mask and the Ole Henrikson PHAT glow facial for the face.

  1. Organize

While it is not for everyone, organizing can be therapeutic when you feel like your mind is going a million miles an hour. I recommend busting out the label maker and watching some of Life in General on Youtube to inspire you to empty out your cabinets and reorganize. You will finish feeling satisfied and proud of your work, and as a result, you will have had a productive day.

  1. Movie and Popcorn

If there is one thing this quarantine is making me miss, it is going to the movies. However, this does not necessarily mean I can’t turn my living room into a mini-movie theater. Even if you don’t have an overhead projector, you can still whip out the popcorn and movie theater snacks and enjoy a movie. Additionally, the movies that are in theaters right now are now being streamed on Amazon, which means you will be able to watch them from home without spending $15 on a ticket. Get your family involved in this one and I promise you will have a great time!

In the future I hope to have my own cosmetics line and inspire other men and women to express their true selves through the art of makeup. I am excited to write for Her Campus so that I can teach and share everything I know when it comes to these things I am passionate about.
