Top 5 Couple Halloween Costumes for 2013

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NYU chapter.

Halloween is right around the corner which means it’s time to go shopping for couple costumes! You and your guy want to look awesome at those college parties but cannot agree on a costume combo. He wants to go as two Power Rangers and you want to go as Jack and Rose from Titanic (hey, it’s a legit idea).

When you do finally reach an agreement, don’t settle for something lame this year like Frankenstein and a green witch–go for something hilarious and fun and like these costumes:

1. Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke

Because their VMAs performance wasn’t controversial enough, you two can be the talk of the party. This costume is actually quite easy to pull off–just go to SpiritHalloween.com to order the twerkin’ teddy leotard and Robin Thicke’s suit. All he needs is a pair of aviators and his costume is complete. As for the Miley costume, technically if you wanted to save money and show off your hot bod, you could get away with a nude bra and high rise panties but that’s up to you. Get even more realistic with a foam finger–just don’t start rubbing yourself at the party…that might be a little awkward.

2.   Despicable Me Minions

Come on, who doesn’t love Despicable Me? It’s hilarious! Be Gru’s sidekicks this Halloween and go as adorable little minions! If your goal is not to look like a playboy bunny, this is the perfect costume–a combination of cute and dorky. This is a super easy outfit that doesn’t require too many pieces. The simple way to pull off the look would be to order it on Party City’s website. You could also go thrifting with your man and find cheap yellow long sleeve t shirts, overalls, and black gloves. Add to the costume with cute see-through goggles and yellow headbands.

3.  Marge and Homer Simpson

America’s favorite couple…and by America I mean my favorite as well. Represent this classic T.V. show by rocking Marge’s signature blue hair, green dress, and red beaded necklace. Just be careful when partying in those low ceiling apartments and dorm rooms. Buy the complete Marge costume at Party City. His costume is easy too–buy a Homer Simpson mask on Ebay, PartCity.com or SpiritHalloween and wear a white polo and pair of jeans. To make Homer more realistic, stuff a pillow in his shirt to get the full beer-belly effect.

4. Peanut Butter and Jelly

Okay so it’s extremely dorky and really cheesy, but it’s the best costume for that kind of couple. You both will look absurd but at least neither of you can feel more ridiculous than the other. And think how cute it will be when you guys hug! <3. This costume is pretty hard to execute without buying a pre-made set unless one of you is an exceptional artist. Order the costume on Party City to make both your lives a lot easier. By the way, this costume so beats salt and pepper shakers and ketchup and mustard bottles.

5.  Miss Piggy and Kermit The Frog

Another classic couple you and your special guy can pull off this Halloween that’ll make everyone go, “Awwww.” Who can go wrong with a classic couple from the Muppets? The Miss Piggy costume accessories can be bought separately or all together at Party City. Alternatively, you could make Miss Piggy’s ears by gluing on peach colored felt pieces to a headband. Wear a red dress or princess gown to nail the look (oh, and don’t forget Miss Piggy’s classic feather boa). Make the outfit more realistic by wearing high heels, as Miss Piggy is much taller than Kermit. Kermit’s part is easy: the mask, feet, hands, and shirt all come together from Party City, as well.
