5 Top Brands for Building Your Professional Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NYU chapter.

College is supposed to be fun time for exploring your style (goodbye high school dress codes). But, as we work to build our resumes, we have to learn how to dress the part of office intern, too. To make things easier, Her Campus NYU is here to share 5 stores that’ll keep you cute and corporate-approved!

Ann Taylor

Ann Taylor has amazing assortment of blouses and dresses for workwear, but we love them most for their cashmere sweaters. They come in several cuts and colors, so you can stay warm all winter long. We also love their “Luxewear” which features casual and structured pieces that can be mixed and matched with your usual office basics.

Aritzia

It’s definitely more on the expensive side, but Aritzia is a working girl’s dream! Their “Wear to Work” category features pieces you can take from the office to dinner with friends. They have all the classic pieces you need like blazers and button ups, but with a variety of silhouettes in the perfect hues.

Modern Citizen

Although Modern Citizen, doesn’t experiment much with patterns in their workwear, the silhouettes and textures of their pieces make for an expensive look with slightly lower price tags than Aritzia. Their accessories are simple, but unique, bringing a more artsy flair to your everyday office wear.

Banana Republic

Banana Republic is a go-to for everything from business casual to that classic power suit. Most pieces are in neutral hues, but they also feature some eye-catching pops of color. Whether you’re into dainty or chunky jewelry, their accessories section will help you bring some extra personality to office basics.

Everlane

If you’re looking for a more ethical option for your work wardrobe, Everlane has got you covered. They specialize in minimal pieces, perfect for the office. While it’s not necessarily the most inexpensive option, the quality is amazing and you can score some great deals in the “Choose What You Pay” section on their site.

Workwear can seem a little boring at times, but with a few added accessories and these great brands, you’ll still be able to bring a piece of your everyday style to your office wear. We hope we’ve inspired you to build your work wardrobe!
