Due to lockdown, many of us found ourselves gaining a newfound appreciation for going on walks, whether that be a quick walk to your local shop and back, or hours spent exploring local parks. However, as the many lockdowns we experienced are now beginning to feel like a distant memory, a new trend has emerged on TikTok encouraging you to keep up with this healthy habit.

Created by Mia Land, the Hot Girl Walk – a product of being encouraged by our family to go on walk outside, to help your mental health during quarantine.

Mia Land describes how “it was a bummer, and we felt cooped up. My mom kept telling me and my sister to go for a walk outside. So we did, and, little by little, I started to feel better.”

Whilst summer has now firmly drawn to a close, going on walks for your mental health as the days grow darker and mid-year exams start looming may not be a bad idea. So, here’s some podcast’s I’d recommend to get you through!

Binchtopia

Binchtopia is my favourite podcast, one I personally believe is truly the best of the best. The description states ‘if Plato and Aristotle had an internet addiction and knew what “gaslighting was, they’d probably make this podcast’, perfectly encapsulating the sheer vibes of Binchtopia. Hosted by Julia Hava and Eliza McLamb, the two aim to ‘guide you through our current cultural hellscape, share sociological and psychological perspectives on pop culture, and deconstruct everything you’ve ever loved’, exploring topics such as surrogacy, stan culture, and compulsory heterosexuality, this podcast is literally heaven sent. I have never laughed so hard whilst having so many realisations about the world around me, and I would recommend my parasocial besties to anyone.

Violating Community Guidelines

Depending on what side of TikTok you’re on, I’m sure you’ve come across either Brittany Broski or Sarah Schauer at some point. Both utterly hilarious, Brittany and Sarah’s podcast will never fail to cheer me up. Violating Community Guidelines “follows two internet-hardened succababes as they explore all corners of the wild and wacky web… Each week you’ll follow these two uncertified experts as they explore the shadow banned, taboo, or downright weird content you won’t see on your For You Page”. Exploring anything from Facebook Marketplace to A. I. Influencers, Brittany and Sarah’s contagious laugh only makes this podcast better

Here for the Craic

Emma Neill’s podcast, Here for the Craic, is pure comfort. Hearing another 20-something gal “chatting shite about anything and everything” has helped me feel less alone whilst I navigate life. Discussing topics such as ‘earning to accept yourself’, ‘what is my love language’, and ‘building good habits’, listening to this podcast feels like having a chat with a friend over a coffee in the best possible way!

Welcome to Paradise

In my opinion, Sophia (@sophiakelly on Instagram) is the ultimate IT girl. She describes her Instagram account as her ‘visual diary’, and her life growing up in LA is evident as she oozes cool. Her podcast, Welcome to Paradise, explores a myriad of topics, from ‘my body is the least interesting thing about me’ to ‘An Ode to Lexapro’, with occasional ‘paradise radio’ segments featuring song recommendations for each mood. If you want to feel like an LA gal in the best possible way whilst the British weather switches up every 2 seconds, check this podcast out!
