Puffer jackets are still extremely popular around campus; with deeper blues, greens and reds overtaking the lighter blues and pastel pinks that encompassed last term’s fashion (almost becoming a must-have item for UoN female students). The trend has become more focused on unbranded, rather than branded jackets. High-street stores Topshop, Urban Outfitters and New Look have become more popular than The North Face jackets, with these stores creating similar, but ever so slightly different, versions of these super-warm jackets.
This week’s Campus Style Spotted is first year student Madeleine Herbert. My aim of this week was to find someone wearing a very simple but effective outfit, something that was eye-catching yet subtle. I spotted Maddie almost immediately with her fedora hat, an item that I am yet to see around campus! Not only this, but her bright electric blue puffer subtly matches the blue of her denim Roxy rucksack and bleached ‘mom’ jeans. Under the puffer jacket she wears a light oatmeal knitted turtle neck. She paired these predominantly blue clothing items with some super cute but simple white and red Reebok trainers, making the look much more casual. Maddie’s very quirky look is therefore popular in terms of the puffer and mom jeans, but the colour co-ordination and black fedora makes the look her very own.
If you don’t have one yet (which would be surprising), I would recommend purchasing a puffer to get you through the last few cold weeks of Spring that await us. Hats are also a Spring item that I recommend buying, not necessarily a fedora, but beanies or caps are likely to come back into fashion for the Spring season.

Maddie: My hat because not many people wear hats and it looks bitching.
Me: What clothing item/ accessory can you not leave the house without?
Maddie: My blue puffer jacket, I think I wear this nearly every day.
Me: Finally, what shop is your number 1 place to buy clothes from?
Maddie: Ummm, I probably don’t have just one. I think I’d have to choose between Topshop or Asos.
