5 Healthy Alternatives for your Everday Food

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

Sometimes it’s the simple changes that can make the biggest difference. By making these simple swaps, you can improve your skin, teeth, energy levels & general health.

COFFEEGREEN TEA

Coffee may be an everyday essential for many but in reality it is not all that good for your body – it can seriously affect your skin, teeth and also affect your bodies hunger mechanism. Switch to green tea, a healthier alternative that as well as keeping you hydrated, can also speed up your metabolism!

CEREAL – PORRIDGE SACHETS

Cereal for breakfast isn’t always as good idea as it seems, with many containing high amounts of sugar – not giving us the best start to the day. Instead swap to porridge sachets, with around 99 calories per sachet they also help you to maintain calorie and portion control.

CHIPS SWEET POTATO

Though it may be easy to throw some chips into the oven after a hard day of uni in reality spending 5 more minutes preparing a sweet potato will give you far more benefits. As well as fewer calories than both normal potatoes and chips, they also have over 400% of your daily dose of Vitamin A. Sweet potatoes > Chips.

MILK ALMOND MILK

Though milk is a fantastic provider of calcium and protein for some people, especially those of you suffer from acne break outs; it may be causing you more bad than good. Due to a hormone called IGF-1 it can cause inflammation leading to acne – making almond milk a better alternative for many.

SALT HERBS

We all know that too much salt in our diets is bad for us. Next time you go to reach to the salt for seasoning why not use herbs instead? Way healthier, tastier and better for us.
