With the festive season in full swing, we’ve rounded up a list of the best places around the world to get your favourite winter warmer, because sometimes you need something a little more special than Starbucks…

Max Brenner – New York City

This chocolate-dedicated restaurant located in Union Square has a desserts menu as long as the mains! 8 different styles of hot chocolate are available in either original milk, white or dark, ranging from the Italian Thick to the Mexican Spicy. All are served in their unique ‘hug mug’, which is designed to be held in both hands and provide the ultimate cosy drinking experience.

Dark Sugars – London

This Brick Lane cocoa house sells handmade treats and truffles, but they’re becoming famous for their decadent drink option. Made using the finest ingredients, the whole thing is topped with an array of chocolate shavings. A vegan option is also available.

Serendipity 3  – Las Vegas and New York

Putting their own desert twist on the classic drink, they serve “Frrrozen” hot chocolates, with Oreo, mint and amaretto options. They’re also famous for their $1000 Golden Opulence sundae if you’re there and happen to get lucky on the slot machines…

Mary’s Milk Bar – Edinburgh

Located in an unassuming Scottish café filled with vintage furniture and blasting 1940s music, their unique offering is their ice-cream-filled hot chocolate floats. Overflowing with sugary goodness, there are 30 different flavour combinations and all use ice cream which is made in store each day.

Caffè Rivoire – Florence

Described as “the ultimate hot chocolate” and a “cup of paradise” by past visitors, this Italian café is delicately decorated in a 20th century style. Serving up their secret recipe to tourists and locals alike – this thick, rich beverage is the closest you’ll come to drinking an actual bar of chocolate.

Now go and kill that chocolate craving…
