10 Easy Ways to Decorate Your Uni Room on a Budget

With the majority of us having moved into our rooms in halls or new houses, the next task that beckons is how to decorate. If like me, you are an extreme hoarder, your room at home may not be everything you’ve always wanted. However, coming to uni we’ve been given a second chance and Her Campus Nottingham is here to give you 10 ways you can do this without splashing too much of your student finance!

1. Fairy Lights

 

Yes I know, the cliché of all clichés, but seriously, who doesn’t like fairy lights? They create such a perfect atmosphere and they’re also perfect for those romantic nights in when you want to pretend you’re lying outside under the stars!

2. Candles

Not only do candles look good, but most of them smell amazing too. You can pick these up really cheap from places like Ikea. However, if Ikea is too much of a trek for you, then pop into DuneElm or Primark as they’re currently selling seasonal candles which smell fantastic. Plus, they’re only £1!

3. Photo Prints

With everything being digital nowadays, photo prints are a great way to look back on great memories and make your room feel just that little bit more homely. Most companies let you have a certain number of prints free and only require postage fees from you, making this really inexpensive. You can simply put these prints up on your wall, or if you’re feeling like a DIY goddess, get some rope and hang your prints up with washing line hooks.

4. Fake Flowers

Those wine and vodka bottles you have lying around from freshers finally have a purpose! Fake flowers are a great way to get that fresh nature vibe in your room without having to worry about your flowers dying on you. Put them in some bottles you have lying around for a shabby chic look

5. Cushions

You can pick up some really cute cushions from almost anywhere. Pile a couple of them up on your bed and it will automatically make your bed look more inviting!

6. Wall Stickers

Wall stickers are a great way to accessorise bare walls without having to worry about leaving paint marks. Amazon stock loads of these varying in designs to fit each individual with prices as little as £2!

7.Posters

Posters are a great way to get your personality across really easily. From your favourite bands to politicians to cocktail recipes, the list is endless for what type of posters you could put. Plus, they’re also pretty cheap; try www.allposters.co.uk for some great bargains.

8. Quotes in Frames

 

These are perfect for when you’re feeling a bit down. Simply print out some of your favourite motivational quotes, put them in a frame and place them on your desk. When times are hard, you’ll be motivated to complete the 20 pages of reading you’ve been set.

9. DIY Flower Chains

Another cute DIY, this flower chain is really simple to make. All you need is some wire and fake flowers to add some pizazz to a dull wall.

10. Wall Organisers

Not only do wall organisers help you stay on top of your life, but they can also look really pretty. Paperchase and TK Maxx have tons of these in store or if you’re feeling up for it, you could print off some templates from online and frame them yourself.
