HCND Finals Week Survival Guide

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

Just started writing that paper due tomorrow morning? Haven’t started studying for that impossible final yet? Don’t fret! HCND has got you covered with study spots, destressors, and more in the HCND Finals Week Survival Guide.

Study Spots

1. Snite Museum (Friday, Snite, 10am-5pm)

Get some serious study inspo from all of the incredible art at the Snite. Tables, chairs, outlets, and snacks will all be provided by The Snite to cater to all your study needs!

2. Hesburgh Library Scholars Lounge

The newest part of the Hesburgh renovations, the Scholars Lounge, is not to be missed. The room is filled with cozy booths, comfy couches, and glass doors that make the perfect casual study space.

3. Carole Sandner Hall

Sitting right behind the dome and Basilica, Carole Sandner is a beautiful building with spacious study spaces. The best part, though, is the free coffee and snacks!

4. DeBartolo Classrooms

During finals week, many DeBart classrooms are left open so students can use them as study spaces. They are perfect for group study sessions, particularly if a chalkboard or whiteboard is needed for diagrams.

5. Geddes Hall

Geddes holds a lot more than the Center for Social Concerns–it is filled with study spaces! The Coffee House is a great place to study quietly and also to get free coffee (just make sure you bring a mug). You can study in a few of the open classrooms and conference rooms around the building as well.

6. McDonald Center for Student Well-Being

Reserve one of the three study (or relaxation) spaces to get your study or snack on. The Break Room has games and music for you to play with while you take a brain break, the living room has chairs and tables for all your study needs, and the fort is the perfect place for a nap.

Stress Relievers

1. SUB Stress Relievers (Sunday, LaFun Ballroom, 5-7pm)

Stop by for pizza, bagels, sandwiches, pop, and everything your tummy could possibly want before a stressful week ahead! Just make sure you get there early–the food tends to go pretty fast.

2. Campus Ministry Pancake Break (Wednesday, Co-Mo, 10-11:30pm)

Breakfast for a midnight snack? Why not?! Join Campus Ministry for a study break with pancakes on the first floor of the Coleman-Morse Center.

3. Student Appreciation Days at the Bookstore (Monday-Saturday, all day)

Can’t find the perfect present for your sister on Amazon? Look no further–the bookstore can help with all of your extremely last minute Christmas shopping needs! Throughout finals week students receive a 10% discount. You can even get yourself something nice–you deserve it!

4. McWell Center

Not only can you study at McWell, you can relieve some stress there too! The McWell break room has games, music, and creative supplies to help you relax and take a break. You can also grab some free healthy snacks and tea or coffee in the living room!

Good luck with finals, HCND! May the odds be ever in your favor.
