5 Things to Look Forward to After Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

Whether we like it or not, spring break is no more. Over the course of the weekend, Notre Dame students returned to South Bend, the antithesis of any sunny location enjoyed over the last week. The fun experiences over last week are a thing of the past, preserved in our memories and on social media. They have been replaced by early morning classes and plenty of coursework.

However, don’t lose hope; there is a light of the end of this tunnel! I can think of at least five things to look forward to now that Spring Break 2015 is behind us. I hope that you find some items on this list that apply to you or other positive things to look forward to as we resume college life.

1. It’s Warming Up in South Bend

Monday (3/16) temperatures in South Bend reached the sixties, making the transition back to school more tolerable! I came back on Saturday (3/14) and couldn’t believe how warm and sunny it was! It was perfect springtime weather! I’m feeling hopeful about the upcoming weather because the next week is supposed to between thirties and fifties, which is still a major improvement over the frigid temperatures from the beginning of the semester. Spring is on its way to Notre Dame, and that is something to look forward to!

2. No More Winter Wardrobe!

This one correlates with the above reason to look forward to the upcoming months! It won’t be long now before we can walk on campus without several layers of clothing (though hopefully not as many as the above GIF!)! We’ll get to exchange heavy winter coats for light jackets and fleeces, and exchange boots for Toms, Sperrys or similar springtime shoes! Soon, we’ll get to wear the spring/summer clothes that have been sitting in our closets for five months, begging to be worn!

3. Easter Break, and…

Even though it’s only about a weekend long, we’ll have another chance before the end of the year to return home, or simply to get a breather from schoolwork if not traveling home. Also, whether you celebrate Easter or not, you can look forward to the massive influx of chocolate and candy in the Huddle and stores everywhere during the next few weeks. Study break snack? I think yes!

4. Fisher Regatta (and Other Springtime ND Events)

As a freshman, I have only heard about the legend that is Fisher Regatta, mostly from my brother (see Zeeks). I can’t wait for Regatta, a bright sunny day racing boats down the lake! In addition to Regatta, there are several other ND events, within dorms or university-wide, that occur near the end of the school year. Pick one of your favorite upcoming events and let it motivate you if schoolwork stresses you out.

5. Summer 2015

This, in my opinion, is the biggest thing to look forward to after spring break. Spring Break is only the prequel for summer vacation, which is in exactly seven weeks! It’s much easier to face the return to school work knowing that only a few weeks of the semester remain. Just a few more papers, and few more exams, and then it’s summer vacation! Whatever plans you have going to the beach, going abroad, working at you dream job or internshipthey are coming up soon!

Every new day is special and worth looking forward to! Find some items on this list or other positive things in your life and let them motivate you as you resume college living and schoolwork. Hang in there, everyone!
