Meet The Blackout’s Co-Director of Marketing: Sofia Kuta

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northwestern chapter.

Meet the 20-year-old, studying Communication Studies and IMC (Integrated Marketing Communications), who is also in charge of promoting The Blackout!

What even is The Blackout?

The Blackout is a late night comedy show produced by a group of ridiculously funny and talented Northwestern students. Basically, it’s like SNL meets Jimmy Fallon’s alcoholic brother.

Why did you choose to be a part of the marketing team?

When I originally heard about The Blackout I thought it was a brilliant idea that had a lot of potential on campus- so I jumped on the bandwagon!

Why should student see the show?

Students should go see the show if they want a good six-pack. Their abs are going to be sore from laughing by the end of it!!!

Who started the idea of a show like The Blackout?

The producer of Jimmy Kimmel is an NU alum and Chelsea [Jacobson] met her at a Northwestern University Women’s Filmmaker Alliance event in LA over the summer and it got her thinking that a late night format would be really conducive to a college campus, and thus The Blackout began.

What is the favorite part of your job?

I just joined the team this quarter so I haven’t been around for too long, but coming up with promo ideas with Chelsea and the rest of the team has been a really fun.
