Breaking Down Coachella 2022’s Most Iconic Looks

No wonder Coachella has been unofficially coined “the Influencer Olympics”—all the celebrities and internet sensations showed up and showed out at Coachella these past two weekends. With all the pressure to curate the best looks for the festival, some people rose to the top, while some were seemingly left behind in the dust. Now I am no fashion expert, but I did my fair share of scrolling through social media in search of some incredible outfit inspiration, and I compiled a list of looks that caught my eye: the good and the bad. So, without further ado, here is my personal take on some of these viral Coachella 2022 looks.

James Charles

I have no words for this look. James broke the internet at the last Coachella in 2019 with the pictures that surfaced of his chaps, but I cannot say this look was that much more redeemable. I love the colors—I think they emulate his brand and style flawlessly—but I think that the mesh thermal printed bodysuit was NOT it. I don’t know if it’s just not my style, but it is not giving Coachella vibes to me. I think there definitely was room for a better look that could’ve incorporated the same idea of having lots of colors.

Rachel Martino

Speaking of colors, Rachel is the perfect example of a colorful look that I loved. Her little tiered sequin dress is so adorable on her and the breathability of a shift dress is a great choice for the hot desert. Pairing it with some metallic purple cowboy boots and a soft pink wide-brimmed hat to match the top and bottom tiers of the dress was genius and I loved the touch of sparkle on her face too. So cute and girly.

Emma Chamberlain

I saw multiple, varying opinions of this outfit on TikTok, but I think this would be exactly what I would wear if I attended Coachella. I LOVE a good pair of platform Doc Martens. Paring the chunky shoe with a tiny little gold romper makes her look tall and model-esque. I also have to applaud a good fanny pack—they always come in handy. The glasses top off the edgy and modern look and I am all about it.

CHloe Bailey

I have mixed feelings about this look. Chloe is so gorgeous- she looks incredible in that shade of purple. Part of me wishes that the cover-up, though, was short and not long. The length makes it look more like a giant fishing net draped over her. I also love her shoes, but cannot imagine it would be comfortable to walk around the desert in heels. This look definitely has potential, though.

Huddy

Huddy ATE. THIS. UP. He looks incredible in the head-to-toe pastel florals. I think the print really offsets what we would usually see him in and I am loving the variation. I think the simple jewelry he paired with it looked great, and I loved the coordination with the hair and nails as well. Such a simple, yet beautiful look.

Conan Gray

Conan’s look stopped me dead in my tracks when I was perusing the Internet for inspiration for this article. I saw a picture of him standing on the dark stage as a bright pink ray of sunshine, and loved it. I think the monochrome is awesome and really goes well with his dark hair and I loved the tailored pants and platform heels. So elegant and fun at the same time. Potentially my favorite look from an artist.

Charli D’Amelio

Charli’s look was another one that I can see myself wearing to Coachella. I love the platform Converse and ankle socks, along with the little lettuce-edge dress. The butterfly print adds a sort-of youthfulness to it that I enjoyed. To tie it all together, the pink streaks and braids in her hair were super Avril Lavigne-esque and I thought the y2K look was great.

Paris Hilton

Last but not least, the queen herself, Paris Hilton. Taking a page out of Conan’s book, she also donned an all-pink monochrome look, which is so on-brand for her. The hot pink stilettos were a classic, but paired with fringe chaps and a rave-style strappy set, it was a bunch of styles mixed together. I think that the monochrome kept it all cohesive, though, and Paris rocked this Barbie doll realness.

Just as Coachella 2022 wrapped itself up this past weekend, so does my takes on what worked and what didn’t for these celebrities and influencers. Coachella really is a great opportunity for personalities to show off their unique styles, and I applaud everyone who put together these killer looks. I can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for us.
