How to Make This Fall Season Spectacular

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NMSU chapter.

Finally, it feels like fall. The temperature is chilly and the leaves are starting to change color from vibrant green to faded orange. Halloween will be here before you know it and soon after it will be Thanksgiving. It is time to embrace this wonderful season, if you haven’t already. Fall is the perfect season for lots of activities that should be done before the weather gets too unbearable when winter starts. Here are five ways to make this fall season spectacular.

  1. Drink Lots of Hot Drinks

Summer is long gone and the time when everyone had an icy cold drink in their hand is no longer. Fall is the season for hot coffee and tea. In the morning, when it’s cold and you don’t want to get up and leave your cozy bed, make yourself a hot drink to warm yourself up while you are walking to class or studying during the chilly afternoons. Some of the greatest hot drinks are hot chocolate (my favorite is Abuelita®), hot tea, and of course the famous pumpkin spice latte everyone knows is a must have drink.

  1. Embrace Fall Fashion Trends

Now that the weather is cold, you can finally pull out all your coats, sweaters, boots, and scarves that you had in storage.  Make a fall fashion collection on your Instagram, Pinterest, or We Heart It and save some pictures that speak to you and your fashion sense. One trend that I am loving is wearing a plaid blazer with jeans. I got mine from H&M for just a little over $35.00. Another trend is wearing black thigh high boots with jeans or a skirt.  I feel like every girl on Instagram has a pair! Just Fab has some great options.

  1. Watch Some Fall Inspired Makeup Tutorials

Get out amber and burnt orange eyeshadows ladies. If makeup is something you are into, you have probably already watched hours of fall inspired makeup tutorials and now you can finally use all the tips you learned to create the perfect eyeshadow look. Some of the best fall palettes are the tartelette™ toasted eyeshadow palette and NAKED HEAT Eyeshadow Palette.

  1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch with Your Friends or Boyfriend/Girlfriend

If all the cute photos on Instagram of people holding pumpkins is not making you want to go to a pumpkin patch than I don’t know what else could! The pumpkin patch is the perfect place to take some Instagram worthy fall photos so make sure to go with someone else to take lots of pictures. The closest pumpkin patch to New Mexico State University is the one at the Mesilla Valley Maze. Admission is $12 for adults.

  1. Bake Some Halloween Themed Cookies and Eat Lots of Candy

Biting into a warm gooey cookie always puts a smile on my face. Cookies are always yummy but seem even yummier during the fall and winter seasons. Cookies not only good to eat but they are also so fun to make. You can find a recipe online to make some homemade or you can buy some from a store already prepackaged and ready to bake. Some of the best prepackaged cookies are made by Pillsbury™. One my friends and I love is the Pumpkin Shape™ Sugar Cookies made by them.

Fall is a wonderful time of year with lots of things to do and food to eat. Sometimes this season can be stressful because it starts around the time midterms are given but hopefully these ideas can help you de-stress and enjoy the season.
