A Day in the Life: Frederick Marte

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Muhlenberg chapter.

Meet Frederick Marte!

He is a sophomore from Passaic, New Jersey, and is a double major in Philosophy and Theatre with a concentration in acting and directing. He is a part of the Emerging Leaders program, inclusivity and equity chair for the MTA (Muhlenberg Theatre Association), president of Gospel Choir, and president and founder of Unchained Theatre Collective. He is also assistant directing the spring mainstage, “For Colored Girls…

On a typical Thursday…

8:00 a.m: I wake up, brush my teeth, do my hair, and get ready to start the day!

8:45 a.m: I walk to the rehearsal house for my Acting II class. We’re working on the Meisner Technique, and we are in the process of doing repetitions and independent activities in order to live truthfully on stage.

10:45 a.m: Class ends, and I head over to the Office of Financial Aid for my work study where I answer phone calls, file paperwork, and help students with their financial aid packages.

12:00 p.m: I grab a quick snack and review for my next class. One of my favorite snacks is the grapes and cheese cup from GQ!

12:30 p.m: I head over to Moyer for my “Philosophy of Religion” class where we study different arguments from a neutral perspective for the existence of God/an ultimate being.

1:45 p.m: Class is over, and I quickly head over to the CA for my cartographies class where we discuss the mapping and remapping in the Americas through a performance perspective.

3:15 p.m: I head over to the dining hall for lunch! I also spend time catching up on homework.

5:00 p.m: I walk to South Hall to meet with my classmates and head over to class at LCCC for the Inside/Out Program, where we hold discussions between insiders and outsiders about the topic of mass incarceration.

8:00 p.m: I drive back to campus and head over to rehearsal for the show, “For Colored Girls…”

10:30 p.m: I finish up my homework for my Friday class, “Monotheism: Creating God,” which is the second part of my cluster.

12:00 a.m: Time to relax! I usually watch an episode of Grey’s Anatomy or The Magicians.

1:00 a.m: After a long day, it’s finally time for bed! Good Night!

Stay tuned for another Day in the Life…
