My Top 5 Her Campus MHC Articles

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mt Holyoke chapter.

Three years ago, Deborah and I were recruited and applied to become the Campus Correspondents for Her Campus Mount Holyoke. As rising sophomores, we were a bit apprehensive about taking on such a huge responsibility; managing a public relations team and a writing team, editing and publishing articles every week as well as writing occasionally, and also keeping up with our myriad other responsibilities on campus seemed like an impossible task. While it has been difficult and at times overwhelming, we have loved every minute of our time as co-CCs for HC Mount Holyoke. We’ve made so many new friends, learned so much about ourselves, and honed our writing and editing skills. My favorite part, though, has definitely been reading the amazing articles our team members consistently write. It’s such a privilege to work with such talented, compassionate, and intelligent writers and learn so much about them, their cultures, and their passions! Here are just a few of my favorite articles over the past few years, but I fully encourage you to head over to our site to read our amazing Features and Profiles.

  1. 9 Times Barack Obama Gave Us Hope

Honestly, I miss having a presidential President, so I revisit this article whenever I’m feeling despondent about the state of the US. While I may not agree with many of the things that Barack Obama did during his time as our president, he was also incredibly inspiring and helped to show children of color that they can literally be anything they want to be, despite what the world may tell them. This article has some of the most hopeful and eloquent Barack Obama quotes, so read it if you need a pick me up or a reminder that you can do anything.

2. 4 Ways Of Dealing With Culture Shock As An International Student

One of my favorite things about Her Campus has been the diversity of perspectives and experiences our team has. This article offers some helpful tips for international students who may be experiencing culture shock in studying abroad at Mount Holyoke. It’s absolutely essential that we, as an magazine, and the College work to ensure that all students have access to resources to help them succeed. This article offers a few resources for international students as they transition to college life.

3. 4 Tips to Improve Focus

I’ve learned so much from our writers and I really value all of the practical skills that they’ve offered. This article outlines four simple ways to focus which I definitely need help with, particularly as finals (very quickly) approach. Avoid procrastination and taking 17 BuzzFeed quizzes in a row by using these helpful hints.

4. Every Personality Quiz You Need to Take

Okay, I know I just said that procrastination and personality quizzes weren’t the best use of your time, but if you absolutely must take them, this article has all of the quizzes you’ll ever need to take. I love, love, love personality quizzes, so this article is definitely one of my faves because it combines some of the best things ever: Her Campus Mount Holyoke and quizzes.

5. 11 of My All-Time Favourite Soundtracks With Important Life Lessons

Deborah has been the best co-editor-in-chief (and best friend) that I could ever ask for and every article she writes consistently amazes me. Her most recent article combines some of our favorite things and throws in a few life lessons, too. The songs featured also make a fire Spotify playlist, perfect for study sessions and road trips.

Of course, there’s no way that I could ever pick just five articles as my favorite Her Campus articles, but I think that these represent some of the best parts of our team. Each member of our team, current or former, has astounded me with the care and kindness they have demonstrated, as well as their ability to think of the most creative article ideas. I’m so, so proud of everything we’ve done together and I know that they’ll continue to blow us away even after we graduate.
