Mount Holyoke is an extremely diverse school. We are so lucky to have students of different nationalities, origins, races, gender identities, and sexual orientations attending our school. Still, there are a few things that truly unite the campus. The following are true signs of being a MoHo student. If you find this article to be #relatable, you probably go to Mount Holyoke.

1. If you know the Blanch menu by heart (and are really sick of it by the end of the year)

Blanchard is a real crowd favorite, with tons of options so that everyone can find something they like. Still, the menus don’t alternate very often, so you’re usually going in knowing exactly what you’re gonna eat. By the end of the year, you’ve probably eaten the same three meals what feels like a million times. Honestly, I’m a little embarrassed at the amount of times I’ve ordered a triple play.

2. If brunch is the highlight of your weekend

I think it’s pretty universal that brunch is the best thing to ever happen to humanity. From crepes at Abbey-Buck to the omelette bar at Prospect, brunch just starts your sunday with a bang. A very relaxed, delicious bang, but a bang nonetheless.

3. If you check the dining hall menus to see what dining hall has the best food

If you’ve got the the dining hall menus bookmarked on your computer, chances are you got to Mount Holyoke. Also, if you’re anything like me, you check the menu around 4 pm everyday to see where the best dinner is, because 4 pm is a perfectly acceptable time to start fantasizing about dinner.

4. If you feel like a construction sight is just part of campus

SuperBlanch construction has become a part of campus at this point. Jackhammer noises during class? Giant ditch in the middle of Skinner Green? What else is new?

5. If you wake up every morning wishing it was Mountain Day

Oh Mountain Day, the glorious day in fall where classes are canceled and we get to sleep in and procrastinate on all of our homework. Why can’t it be Mountain Day every day?

6. If you automatically respond with “actually it’s a Historically Women’s College” to anyone who calls Mount Holyoke “an all girls’ school”

Every MoHo is used to hearing the classic “all girls’ school” reply when they reveal that they go to Mount Holyoke. This description is not only demeaning by passing off our accomplished and historic institution as a school for “girls,” but also glosses over the fact that not all Mount Holyoke students are women.

7. If you put stickers on everything

Accessorizing is essential to Mount Holyoke style. Stickers typically adorn water bottles and laptops, and pins expressing anything from political sentiments to funny jokes are tucked on backpacks and jackets. Just one of Mount Holyoke’s many fashion trends.

8. If you hate your OneCard photo

Almost everyone I know, myself included, took their ID photo for their OneCard on move in day. That means that we were sweaty, nervous, and a little crazed. That also means that the photos do not exactly look great. Good thing we get to have this special moment immortalized on our OneCards so that we can see it everyday for the four years!

9. If you spend 40 minutes trying to print one page

Okay, I love our library and LITS is amazing, but somehow I always spend way longer than normal trying to print! Whether it’s a broken printer or trouble with the public cloud, printing just isn’t as easy as it could be.
