Ways to Show Your Partner Love, Even After Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

While Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to show your partner how much you love them, why limit yourself to just one day of the year? It can be hard to find time to devote to your partner and your partner only throughout the busy year. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of some things you can do for that special someone, regardless of the time of year! Here are some simple ways you can express your love to your partner all year round!

Offer to do a chore or task they despise

Maybe it’s the dishes, washing the car, or cleaning the toilet. Maybe it’s setting up a doctor’s appointment. Whatever the chore or task, offer to do it for your partner! This is a small way to give your partner a break from a stressor, and it shows them you care enough to do the things they dislike!

Make their favorite meal

Something as simple as a home cooked favorite dish can mean more than a million words. Find their favorite recipe and break out your inner Master Chef for a meal they love. This is perfect for a pick me up or after an argument, as it shows that no matter what happens, you’ll always be there for them.

Offer to run errands with them or for them

Running errands, such as grocery shopping, can be exhausting after a long day or week. Offer to go with your partner, not only to help them shop, but also to spend time with them if you have conflicting schedules. A quick trip to the grocery store together is a good way to get errands done and check in with your partner. If they’re very stressed or very tired, offer to run the errands for them instead.

Plan a stay-at-home date night

This is perfect for when you need to get out, but also are living through a global pandemic! Step away from your school or work, and spend the night with your partner doing whatever makes you happy! Bake a frog cake, have a picnic in your living room, watch your favorite movies, or even just take a nap together. A cute date night at home is perfect for quality time with your partner, the perfect solution to stress!

Get them something they love

If your partner loves Squishmallows, get them one they really like! Whether it be stuffed animals, plants, tools, art supplies, or clothes, find something your partner enjoys and grab it for them! A small gift is perfect for those with a gift-giving love language. It’ll make your partner feel loved,  and you get to see their reaction to opening it, which is definitely the best part.

Life can be more than overwhelming sometimes for all of us. While Valentine’s Day is a great time to express your love for your partner, sometimes small gestures throughout the year can mean the world to them. I hope these ideas help you and your partner show each other some extra love throughout the year!
