Now that the new year is in full swing, there are plenty of things to look forward to as 2023 progresses. Summer of 2023 will not only be a fantastic time to enjoy the sunshine but will mark the third time Futurama is releasing new episodes. Despite some issues after the initial announcement of this series’ return, John DiMaggio reached a settlement with Hulu to reprise his role as Bender Bending Rodriguez. After this settlement was reached, the entire original cast was set to return to reprise their roles as the characters we all know and love! With Katey Sagal as Turanga Leela, Phil LaMarr as Hermes Conrad, Lauren Tom as Amy Wong, and Billy West as Philip J. Fry, Zoidberg, Zapp Brannigan, and Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth as well as many other background characters the fandom has come to recognize.

However this is not the only successful show written by one of Futrama’s writers Matt Groening. He has produced another well known adult comedy called The Simpsons, which has been airing from 1989 to the current day. Vastly different from both of his other projects is Disenchantment, a Netflix original series following a princess, an elf, and a demon through magical mishaps and predetermined destiny. Now Matt Groening and David X. Cohen will be returning to revive the beloved Futurama characters fans have come to know and love on Hulu for a total of ten new episodes. According to IMDB, the episodes are supposed to have the following titles:

  • “The Impossible Stream”
  • “Rage Against The Vaccine”
  • “Zapp Gets Cancelled”
  • “The Prince and the Product”
  • “Related To Items You’ve Viewed”
  • “Children of a Lesser Bog”
  • “How The West Was 1010001”
  • “I Know What You Did Last Xmas”
  • “Parasites Regained”
  • “All the Way Down”

Although there is little information known to fans past this point, there are many hopes for the contents of each episode. There is no telling who out of the more than 100 characters will make an onscreen appearance. One thing is clear to fans, however: we are ready to follow Fry and Leela around again.
