A little over a year after Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer’s hilarious video “Justin Timberlake, Make Music Again” went viral, it seems our prayers have been answered! After an agonizing 6 year hiatus from the wonderful world of music, Justin Timberlake announced via Twitter: “To whom it may concern…I think I’M READY!”.  As if that wasn’t enough, he released an amazing teaser video in which he personally explains what his music truly means to him.  While walking through what we can only assume is his house, the video comesto a dramatic ending, with Timberlake taking his place in the studio uttering the only two words we need to hear: “I’m ready”. I swear you could hear 90’s music lovers everywhere exploding with excitement.   JT’s website, which hosted the teaser video, also had a live countdown clock for 3 days, but it was still not clear what we were waiting for.

At last the time came and the world was finally graced with the beautiful sound of Timberlake’s voice along with a Jay-Z collaboration on the long awaited single “Suit and Tie”.  After the long wait and massive hype in the days leading to the release did “Suit and Tie” live up to fans’ expectations?  It truly is hard to tell.  Many have referred to the track as a “grower”, the more you listen to it the more you grow to like it. But after waiting 6 years do we really want a grower? My immediate reaction could be summed up short and sweet: repetitive and shallow. Timberlake is known for pushing the limits and for many of us serves as a key player in our nostalgic tendencies.  “Suit and Tie” seemed far too mainstream instead of showcasing the clever and creative Justin we’ve long missed.

Upon releasing “Suit and Tie”, Timberlake also released an open letter to the fans and announced the title of his upcoming album “The 20/20 Experience”.  Whether you loved “Suit and Tie” or not, I think we can all agree that we will be anxiously awaiting the release of what is sure to be a refreshingly creative album.  Don’t let us down JT!
