Spartans celebrate after named Big Ten Champions

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

East Lansing is alive with the smell of roses! Last night, the MSU Spartans took the Ohio State Buckeyes by storm.  Over 66,000 people witnessed first-hand a Spartan victory to be remembered at Lucas Oil Stadium. Two minutes left in the game, the Spartans scored a touchdown that would secure a win and a trip to The Rose Bowl with a final score of 34-24.

Following the championship victory, Spartan fans in East Lansing wasted no time in celebrating. Nearly 4,000 students gathered in Cedar Village on Bogue and Grand River for what is known as “Cedarfest”—usually a celebration for Spartan basketball finals.

Students set blazes to couches, tore down stop signs and climbed walls as they celebrated the big win for MSU.

East Lansing Police intervened to maintain safety and break up commotion. One police officer watched the crowd and flames as he said, “This is just MSU being brilliant right now.” Several arrests were made on site and police intend to press charges.
