MSU Football Senior wide receiver #3, B.J. Cunningham, was named the teams MVP (Most Valuable Player) at this years 2011 Football Awards Banquet this week. Â Its easy to see why this powerhouse of a player received the Governor’s Award (MVP) by his teammates by the insurmountable amount of stats he has racked up over the last four years as a Spartan footballer. Â He is MSU’s all-time leader in receptions with 211 yards and the all-time leader in receiving yards as well with 3,020 yards. Â Cunningham also ranks second in State history with 25 receiving touchdowns. Â Although losing last weekend to the Wisconsin Badgers in the first annual B1G Championship Game, during that game he had a career-high amount of touchdowns in one game with three touchdowns. Â He also received the Downtown Coaches Club Award for Outstanding Senior Offense alongside Spartan Senior Quarterback, Kirk Cousins. Â Cunningham became the first wide receiver to be given the honor of the Governor’s Award since 2002 when Charles Rodgers was awarded it. Â Arguably one of the best wide receivers in the nation, Cunningham excels both on and off of the field as a student athlete originally hailing from Ohio. Â With the NFL Draft coming in the near future one can’t help but recognize his potential in earning a spot with one of the leagues top teams. Â Either way though, Cunningham who has wowed us with his touchdowns and strength on the field, has always been an exemplary Spartan through and through. Â To B.J. Cunningham, we thank you for bringing us excitement each Fall weekend on the field and for constantly repping the Spartan name! Â Good luck and GO GREEN!
