As we grow older, I feel our relationships begin to dwindle to a select few that mean more than the world. There are few who stay by our sides from start to finish, through thick and thin, no matter how rough things get. When I think of who will always be there, only one person comes to my mind: My mom.

Moms are the real life superheroes. Yes, this may be cliche, but it is true. They raised us from babies to troublesome twos to confused adolescents to angsty teens. They dealt with our good days along with our heartbreaks, confusion, stress and adventurous stages. Through all of this, our moms are there to support us. And they it all while maintaining their own lives with jobs, relationships, other children and social lives.

Despite this, we might not have always been the nicest to our mothers. Some of us can even recall saying, in moments of madness, that we “hate” our mom, which is never the truth. Mothers take all of the stuff we throw at them and still give us all they have. They still love us unconditionally, no matter what.

Personally, my mother is my rock. She is my best friend, my confidant, my motivator, my hero and my support system. My mom has been there for my best days, the normal days and some of the hardest days I think I will experience. I’ve definitely had my troubled spots, but she has always been so supportive. She is the strongest, most hard working, inspirational, honest, caring person I know. I aspire to be like my mom. If I grow up to be half the person she is, I would be so lucky.

With her upcoming birthday, I wanted to express my gratitude for all she has done for me. Thank you, mom, for being the best friend I could have to support me.

My mom, along with most mothers, don’t hear this enough: Thank you for all you do.

Take some time today to tell your mom thank you for everything she has done for you. We wouldn’t be where we are without our moms.
