I have recently fallen back in love with movies. I forgot how good it feels to slow down for a couple of hours, and lose yourself in a film. Here are the three movies I watched this month that launched me back into a movie-watching mood.

1. Spider-Man: Brand New Day: 3.5 stars.

I always say I don’t like superhero movies, but then I get in a theater recliner, and I’ll be fully immersed in the superhero universe. This movie was extremely fun to watch and kept my attention through the entire run time. The cast and the needle drop moments were really spectacular. This is one of those movies that I almost felt obligated to see, but I fulfilled the obligation willingly, and watching it was nothing like a chore.

2. Coyote vs. Acme: 4.5 stars.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Slapstick cartoon humor will never not work. Watching this movie was a viewing experience full of joy that I haven’t felt during a movie in a long time. I found myself almost crying over the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote’s relationship? Also, the lore surrounding this film is incredibly interesting, and I am so glad this movie was able to be released in the end. Its release story becomes incredibly ironic when you pick up on some of the themes in this film. Everyone should watch and support this film!

3. Nightmare Before Christmas: 5 stars.

I had not seen this film in years, and as it’s starting to become fall again, so now seemed like the perfect time. I watched it with my parents who had never seen it. Showing someone a movie that you love to someone who’s never seen before is one of the world’s greatest feelings. I love Halloween, I love stop motion, and I love off-putting little creatures and characters. Most of all, I just love this movie.

I enjoyed all three of the movies I watched this month, and therefore would have to recommend them all! In this new age of AI, I have been taking the time to think about how lucky we are to have the opportunity to watch movies made from hours upon hours of great minds working and dedicating themselves to delivering art.
