Going to a university that constantly has events, giveaways, and more means you’re going to want to stay in the loop. The way my feed used to be dominated by high school-related content, left a hole for many MSU accounts to fill. Here are some of my favorite university related Instagram accounts.

MSU affiliated accounts:

@StateNews — The State News is our school newspaper. Their Instagram features pieces of their articles, covering local and campus life. As well as posting general information useful to MSU students.

@MSU_athletics –This is a great way to stay up to date on a lot of sports at once, a profile to hear about all the major events surrounding all MSU sports. They post on a wide variety of MSU sports news, scores, and updates making it perfect for being connected to the major happenings in the athletics world.

@TheRealSparty — Explanatory in itself. Everyone should follow Sparty because he’s our mascot and mascots are fun.

@UABatmsu — This is our student-run university activities board. They post about tons of happenings on campus. It has been a great way for me to find and get involved with events I wouldn’t have known about.

Non-affiliated MSU-related accounts:

@MSUBarstool — All students should already know and follow this account, as it has 128k followers. Barstool accounts are mostly for sports updates with lots of memes and student features. It is lighthearted, showing crazy student life aspects with very prideful and biased sports posts.

@MSUChicks — The Chicks organization is a barstool affiliate, and you can see that with some similarities in content. Just this content is more largely appealing to women on campus. It is so funny, unfortunately oftentimes relatable, and is one of my all time favorite follows.

@HCMichiganState — Us! Our chapter has a pretty Instagram page with ever-changing themes, thanks to our social media team! It features a lot of writers, designs, and photos.

@MSUFoodCritics — This is an account run by a group of ranch-loving students who document reviews about the food they eat on and around campus. They are honest, hilarious, and tell great stories detailing their experiences. Plus they have good taste, meaning their opinions are trustworthy.

@Friday.Beers.Spartans — Friday Beers is another account that is similar to Barstool in its content and its affiliation to an original account. They post classics like Sunday Scaries, almost Friday, officially Friday, and Tuesday texts. Features good memes and students embarrassing themselves.

@ZekeTheWonderDog_ — Zeke is the talented dog we know as a frisbee catcher at MSU home football games. Every student should follow him on Instagram because there’s always room on your feed.

Following accounts about life at MSU helps make you feel like a part of the community. These are great accounts I think every student should follow if they aren’t already!
