Name: Madeline Rosemurgy
Major: Creative Advertising
Celeb Status: Communications Intern at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum
How did you hear about this position?
Last summer I took a class on writing for public relations that required us to find a real job or internship to practice writing a cover letter. I found my job online through MSU Career Services and decided to apply on a whim because I thought it’d be fun to work at the new art museum, and I got the job!
So, what do you do?
I do all sorts of design and communications related tasks. Everything from designing posters and flyers to drafting content for the website and social media. A couple of my recent projects included designing an ad that ran in the November issue of “Artforum,” an international art magazine. I also assist in creating the identity, invitations, and other materials for our annual gala.
Why did you decide to study design?
It took me almost three years to finally land on a major and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I’ve always loved art and design. I’m the kind of person that geeks out over fonts and cool package designs so the fact that I get to do this for a living is kind of like a dream come true.
What’s your dream job?
I would love to own my own design agency that specializes in crafting brand identities for small, local businesses.
What do you do in your spare time?
I love discovering new music, practicing hand lettering, watching too much Netflix, and drinking a good cup of coffee.
