Let’s Keep Fighting for Sex Education

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

After the election of Donald Trump, the uproar and backlash was undeniable. If you were indignant toward his election, you were probably an attendee of the weekly protests and rallies that were occurring in communities across the nation. It became the norm to protest the hatred and injustice that exploded in our nation after Trump’s election.

Now, almost five months after Election Day, the momentum has seemingly fizzled. The fierce activism has dissipated as people have began to navigate their new lives in “Trump’s America.”

The question of what can we do to fight injustice and support causes in need still looms.

For those in East Lansing, mark your calendars: On March 30 from 7-9 p.m., Reno’s East is holding an event to support the Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan.

Reno’s East will hold a sex trivia night with prizes ranging from Strange Matter Coffee Co. gift cards, Planned Parenthood merchandise and other possible prizes from local businesses.

The questions will be based on a series of educational topics including sexual education, sexual assault prevention and more.

Many of the political battles we currently face are due to a misunderstanding or lack of education. Educating people about sex and violence prevention is a crucial first step in eradicating sexual assault, sexually transmitted diseases and more.

Join the Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan’s fight toward bettering sexual education by supporting their sex trivia night on March 30. Let’s keep our momentum going!
