During the school year, students definitely don’t get enough breaks. Winter break is the only time where we can actually relax and not do any homework whatsoever. So once that time of year finally comes around, it’s incredibly important to savor every second!

1. Binge watch your favorite show

Binge watching your favorite show is a luxury most of us cannot afford during the semester. Sometimes it’s nice to just turn your brain off and get lost in a show for a few hours. One of my favorites to binge is Criminal Minds, which I definitely recommend!

2. Read Fun Books

For months we have to read boring textbooks, but don’t let that change your view of reading. There is an endless amount of fun books to read out there! Not every book you read has to be educational or serious. Try out some sci-fi or romance novels!

3. Watch TikTok for way too long

While this might have happened during the semester a few times, it’s a whole different experience when you don’t have numerous assignments looming over you! Laughing is good for your health. Let yourself turn your brain off and enjoy some funny videos for as long as you want.

4. Sleep All Day or Don’t Sleep at All

Some people lose sleep during the semester because they have to stay up late to finish assignments. If that sounds like you, winter break is a great time to catch up on some sleep! Personally, I have the opposite problem. I never let myself stay up too late because I want to wake up earlier to get work done. Winter break would be a good opportunity to stay up all night doing whatever you want, without feeling guilty!

5. Reflect on the Year

One of my favorite things to do at the end of every year is reflect on my goals. It’s always fun coming up with different or altered goals for the new year! I prefer writing them down in my planner and crossing them off as the year progresses. Reflecting and setting goals can set you up for success!

There’s so many ways to unwind during winter break, these are just a few. Do the things you enjoy doing and do them as much as possible. If there’s an activity you don’t usually have time to do during the semester, winter break is a great time to finally take the time to enjoy it!
